I'm updating my review, based on a recent visit. Over time, the service has declined and well as the food quality. After we were quickly seated, we were not offered water or drinks. No waiter came into the dining area for at least 15 minutes (despite four other customers waiting on meals). I waved to who I thought was a waiter when he finally appeared, but he said he didn't work here. He was carrying menus and putting them away, so I asked him why he was doing this. He said the service there was a bit off from time to time and he tended to help himself. He suggested that I get my own water, and pointed me to the location of the pitchers and glasses, which I did. After we received our food, two of the three items on my plate were wrong. The beef tostada he brought had no beef, only a thin layer of beans. The packaged tostada shell wasn't warm and the beans were barely warm. This is the kind tostada you put together quickly at home, when you can find nothing else to eat. Disappointing. I would comment on the chimichanga I ordered, but I received a thick, hard overcooked tamale instead. In my previous review below I said I'd be back, but I won't anymore. Previous review: Went for lunch on a Monday. Great service from two different waitresses. I had the Tacos Vaqueros - which was the lunch special that day. Really different and quite good. They used fresh corn tortillas (two per taco) and put melted jack cheese between them, before folding them over into shredded beef tacos, with avocado. I've been here twice now, and...
Read moreDo yourself a favor and find another place to eat. When I first moved here, I enjoyed going here. My most recent experience however was horrible. Took my son out to eat here for his birthday. Somewhere along the line there was a miscommunication on what my son ordered and it was incorrect. The rude waiter insisted it was my sons fault so I would have to pay for the plate or it would come out of her pocket. After much goin back and forth with this lady, and asking to speak with the manager, she said there was no manager there and there was nobody I could speak to. She finally says she will call to see what can be done and in the meantime she orders the correct plate. But then she waits til after we are done eating to say she's talked go thr owner who said we still needed to pay for both plates. I would have never ordered the other plate if that were the case. She kept saying since he messed up he would have to pay. I asked to speak to whoever she called, but she wouldnt let me and decided to "take.the other plate off but she was going to have to pay for it" she gossiped with her coworkers about the situation and they kept looking at me with shaking heads and rolling eyes. So unprofessional!!!! Mistakes happen and if I were a business owner I would not treat...
Read moreFrom the 7 minute wait of being unacknowledged at the host stand to paying the bill, terrible experience. From the checkerboard tiles to the random trophies to the noisy pool table, nothing screams more inauthentic mexican food than Las Palmitas. Allowed to be seated at a dirty/sticky table, another 7-10 minute wait with simple chips and salsa and luke-warm beans thrown at us before our server/bartender/to-go taker even acknowledged us. Appetizer of "shrimp ceviche" screamed food poisoning before we dug in, with the missing ingredients of a delivery device, aka tostadas that are included. When asked for, we're treated like garbage for asking for them. When the server was told the appetizer was SOUR, i was met with the reply "they put a lot of lime juice in it, that's what ceviche is". Wrong. I know citrus, and i know spoiled shrimp aka SOUR. Won't bother explaining the rest of what was meant to be a relaxing dinner as my appetite was already ruined at this point and a headache was coming on from the pool/billiards table being played on 5 ft away from our table. 100% will never be back. If you are looking for a MORE authentic Mexican dining experience, i would recommend your local Taco Bell. 0 stars if that...
