Our NYE experience was beyond disappointing and dismal. I would never again return or even recommend celebrating nye at this venue. For what we paid, our experience at literally any other NYE event in the city would have been far superior.
Buffet dinner was $75/pp. In general, this wouldn't be considered a bad price at all. The food itself was good. But we were expecting expected to tip the waitress 20% on $300 for a service in which we did literally all the labor.
The drinks were inconsistent at best. The first round of drinks were great. Round 2-5 were terrible. When asked why the drinks weren't consistent even though we were ordering the same thing over and over, the excuse was "I don't know, we have four bartenders." I'm sorry, but your bartenders don't know how to make a consistent old fashioned? Maybe something to consider working on.
Then of course everyone there for the dinner buffet were reminded CONSTANTLY from 9-10pm that at 10pm we had to relinquish our booth for paid private bottle service. Literally, every 10 min we were reminded we'd have to vacate at 10pm. Fine but then at 10 til 10, we were forced out of a booth we were still sitting in with drinks - fully prepared to exit at 10 sharp. Mind you, for four people after the alcohol was added to our tab, our bill before gratuity was over $500 combined. But we were bullied out early.
More ridiculous was the bottle service on offer. $125 for the cheapest bottle of prosecco or $250 for bottom quality bourbon, vokda or tequila. $250 for a bottle of Jack Daniel's. I get it, they are selling an "experience" with scantily clad women and mixers for the liquor. Can't say any of that would have justified the bottle service price in Colorado Springs though. Let alone the quality of service we were receiving to begin with. We easily would have spent well over another $250+ just on cocktails had we stayed at the table all night in lieu of bottle service. But fine, we vacated as expected.
So during the 10-1am period, they cleared ALL non bottle service tables. The expectation during the remainder of the night was that unless you paid for bottle service, it was standing room only. Every seated surface was paid, and all remaining patrons could stand, or go outside and sit where they moved all indoor tables. Yet it was clear that they did not sell even half their tables to bottle service as we finally decided 30 min later to leave entirely. Fascinating really they would be happy to lose decent paying customers in favor of a single charge bottle.
This is not an event I would ever patronize again. It was not only a disorganized cluster f, but the vibe was simply not it. For what we spent on alcohol and food at viewhouse, we quite literally could have paid for the multi course meal at the Broadmoors NYE event and would have had proper seating the entire night. What a complete waste of an 8hour trip to COS to spend with old friends celebrating the new year. We poured ourselves into an Uber and headed to another venue that I'll review later.
TLDR: nye at view house is NOT it. Save yourself the excessive costs for a disappointing experience. COS has truly premier venues these days that command the same cost and will net a better...
Read moreWe hosted our wedding reception at the View House. Overall the event was a success but financially we were misled by the staff.
The minimum bev and food spend for the space was $4500. We were told not to worry if we didn’t hit it because we could have bottles of liquor/wine from the bar to meet our minimum instead of just paying it out. We even joked with the coordinator about just paying for food and fulfilling the rest with alcohol to take home. Unfortunately this was in person and not in writing. I even told family we weren’t worried about the minimum because of what we were told.
At the end of the night we were about $600 shy of the minimum. The staff member seemed shocked to hear we knew we could take bottles home. They gave us a bottle of Jack Daniels and a bottle of Makers Mark and called that $500 worth of alcohol. Of course we figured there would be a restaurant up charge, but this was astronomical. We would have covered more of our friends and families drinks had this information been adequately expressed.
Once following up, the story changed to them of course suggesting we fulfill the minimum with the food and bev for our guests. That was never said in the planning process. The coordinator knew what we planned for food and that we wanted to cover everyone’s first drink - it was never expressed that we wouldn’t be able to fulfill the full remaining amount with alcohol to take home. I did mention using the rest on our drinks and bridal party and should have mentioned the conversation we had in person again. But live and learn.
To be clear - we had no issue spending the $600 but it would have been spent treating our guests not on two bottles of overpriced booze and almost $200 we might as well have burned. We would have had an open bar until we hit $4500.
One bartender was amazing - the other two let her do the rest of the work, which was sad to see since they split tips. The event ultimately was a success and our friends and family had a blast. The food was good and the staff was attentive - especially to me as the bride. The planning process was simple as well. We have zero complaints about the actual event and are very grateful for that.
I just hope someone reads this before booking so they are not blind sided like we absolutely were by the event staff. With the service charges and required tips we spent almost $6,000 for the space when it was all said and done. We likely still would have booked - but would definitely have made different choices on how to spend the money had we had all the...
Read moreupdate:3/7/22 Cauliflower bites were amazing again. Superfood ancient grains bowl was not great at all. first they were out of the ancient grains and offered white rice instead . supposed to put it on the side but didn't. the vegetables were over cooked and mush. absolutely disappointed in the kitchen crew. lunch was slow and yall have no excuse to of messed up this bad. the siracha salmon was good a little over cooked and extremely small for the price . I was not impressed at all and that's why you had 5stars on my last review and now only hold 3 stars. day time manager, you didn't touch a single table you stood at the hostess booth talking to the waitress's . your not there to socialize your there to check on tables, make sure food is coming out properly and to lead your team. you failed your team horribly. Brooke was our server. you have potential to be an amazing server. however even you slacked on this day. you didn't check on my table nearly enough. as a server within the first minute or two of a table having their food you should be checking on them. ask how the food tastes, how the experience is. you let my drink go empty a couple times. and at first i thought you were just busy then I observed what you were doing and found that you were sitting at the bar talking to the bar tender for far too long especially when you weren't picking up drinks or running drinks and the other times you stood at the hostess stand chatting with the waitress's and the manager. day shift get it together you just lost 2 stars for this establishment. I will return and hope that yall shape up otherwise I will never support the day shift again.
1/30/22 Courtney was an absolute delight. I hope to get her again or someone as amazing as she was. Forgot to take some of the pictures of apps we got. Like the veggie tray and a sushi tray. The cauliflower bites where absolutely amazing. My only ask would be to make that amazing sauce that comes with them vegan friendly. All the food was amazing and i hope to have another great experience. Possibly on Superbowl Sunday. But we will see how everything works out. Been wanting to try this place for awhile.
My one complaint is the manager only touched specific tables and was seen at the same table multiple times. In a place like this i kind of expect for the Foh manager to touch every table even if only...
