I have never been so offended by the night shift employee. We had an issue with noise in the room next door which began at 11:30pm, 3 hours after we had gone to bed since we had an 7:30am event to attend the next morning. We then called down the front desk to ask for some assistance in getting them to quite down. The noise level continued, so we again called to the front desk. Again the noise level continued. We called again for a third time and the noise and door slamming continued. I finally went to the front desk at 12:30 am to see if security would do something about the noise. I was given multiple excuses...1) it’s a college town, 2) it’s a Saturday night, 3) they are celebrating a birthday...AND the very best one 4) the walls of our hotel are thin. As I was discussing with the front desk why we needed our sleep as well. The group walked out and THEN she sent security up to see about the noise level. There was no more noise they left the hotel. So nothing was done.
Fast forward to 3:21am, the group returned to slamming doors and loud talking and laughing. Since NOTHING was done before we sucked it up and prayed our girls would sleep through the racket caused by the other room. At 4:32am they finally got quite but by that time we were all up and wide awake.
Now, this morning when we once again approached the front desk staff to voice our concerns, we were greeted with excuses after excuses as to why it was alright that this room was allowed to disturb other rooms and that she felt like they had done nothing wrong. We were also told that we were being unreasonable and that it was an acceptable amount of noise. Doors slamming, running from room to room, excessive banging on floor and walls, and just general rudeness at the wee hours of the morning is uncalled for. The front desk was not doing anything to stop them and we expressed concerns about it being a host hotel for multiple families; we were told again that it was OUR fault! This is completely unacceptable for some one in the service industry. She was unprofessional and rude!!!
As a Hilton honors member I have never been treated so badly and makes me reconsider staying again at this hotel...

Desk manager has a problem with kids sitting in the public dining space next to the bar.
She states this IS all the bar seating however, she’s wrong. It’s clearly advertised as a bar and grille with dedicated bar stools the rest is low top tables. Marketing yourself as bar and grille with NO signage stating “under age persons may not sit here” means I’m free to have a drink at the bar while my child can sit at a regular table and eat some chicken tenders.
By the desk agents logic anywhere that has a bar now cannot seat children. So, restaurants like Applebees and Longhorn cannot accommodate kids with regular seating.
I tried respectfully to point out the difference between regular seating and BAR top seating for kids but she remains committed to ignorance.
Furthermore, the maximum occupancy for this bar area is set at 100+ and if you’ve been inside you know it cannot accommodate half that so it’s actually zoned for the ENTIRE downstairs lobby :-) that ALL is the bar and grille area, you can also be on the other side of the lobby not even next to the bar and order drinks / have drinks brought to you by this zoning. By her logic it would also be illegal to have drinks brought to your room with kids present. See how she’s wrong? Law is fun.
All seating EXCEPT the actual bar stools is suitable LEGALLY for kids. No parent is going to seat their kids across the lobby so it sounds like she either doesn’t support legal kid friendly areas or she doesn’t want bar customers at all.
If management doesn’t know the correct seating policy, I have no confidence in this hotel to maintain any other category of importance.
Rooms are outdated, dirty, visibly missed areas for vacuuming, most outlets were dead and sink clogged. Gym had weights and one treadmill the peloton and other machines are broken or simply not cared to be plugged in.
People review this place well for the service and staff below management which also get treated poorly, not...
Read moreHilton Garden Inn Columbus University Area had been the location for yesterday's [12-14-2019] Humanist Community of Central Ohio [HCCO] Winter Solstice Banquet.
The banquet room had been wonderful; the food [served buffet style] had been delicious and plentiful; the staff [in particular, the woman who had been staffing the "cash bar"] had been friendly and helpful. My only criticism of the food is that one of the dessert pastries had fallen apart into many crumbs – while the icing on top of that pastry had remained intact -- when I had removed the paper wrapper.
My Uber driver to Hilton Garden Inn Columbus University Area had had some difficulty finding that location because that location is directly behind El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant and is only partially visible from Olentangy River Rd. I want to thank Google Maps "Satellite" view [that I had viewed before my departure] for allowing me to learn, before my arrival, that absolutely essential location information.
When my Uber driver and I had successfully arrived at the covered entrance [which is visible in one of the "Google Maps" pictures], there had been no visible sign or address anywhere near the entrance door with which to confirm that we had indeed arrived at the correct location.
But approximately one minute after I had entered the building and had started to look around the lobby, I saw the HCCO "check-in" table in one of the corners of that room and knew that I had arrived at the correct location.
After the banquet had ended, because of the difficulty finding the correct location, I walked for approximately one minute to El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant before requesting my Uber ride home because I had been certain that my Uber driver home would be able to find that location...
