There were multiple issues with this hotel. The main reason for choosing this hotel was because they have a whirlpool hot tub, however the pool was warmer than the hot tub. When asking about it on wednesday night I was told it would be repaired the next day, that the repairman is typically there early. When we returned thursday night the woman on duty stated it was fixed, so since it was past pool hours I got up extra early the next morning to use the hot tub only to find that it was not fixed. Also on Wednesday night when we pulled out the couch bed the mattress was covered in stains. They did offer to change our room, but by then I had completely unpacked our belongings and my husband was sound asleep after having driven for 16 hours, so j just requested a mattress pad and sheets for it. We set the bed up and then we crashed because we had yet to sleep after such a long drive and then spending time with family in the area. The next morning I noticed there were actually stains on the bedding for the king sized bed that I hadnt noticed the night before when I pulled the covers back and climbed in. I told the woman on duty and again she offered to change rooms, which I told her I would talk to my husband and let her know, however we had lots going on and did not have time to change rooms and she was not at the desk when we needed to head to the events we were in town for and I couldn't wait around. When we returned at 1 am I was just ready to crash and decided that I had already slept on it once it wouldnt hurt to do so again. Also the bed was rock hard on one side and sinking on the other. We figured out on thursday that it is a sleep number bed, however the remote did not want to work. The lady at the desk said we just had to be persistent with it and keep trying to get it to adjust, that they get alot of complaints about it. My husband ended up having to unplug and replug it over and over to get it to work in short snippets to get it to adjust just a little so that the rock hard side wouldn't feel like sleeping on concrete. When checking out the next day I was appalled when the hotel decided I would not be getting my $150 deposit back because of a small spot if blood on the fitted sheet of the pull out bed. When i argued that things happen and something like that can be washed out the man told me it didn't matter that any damage means no deposit return. I told him that the sheet would not cost $150 to replace if he wasn't able to get it out, so it would be ridiculous to charge me that much. He told me the sheet is $25 but that any damage means he keeps the entire deposit. When I asked who I should contact regarding this he decided he would go recheck the room to make sure there was no other damages. He then came back to say that the couch bed had been wet so that was why he was keeping the deposit. Again I told him that can be washed out and that even if he replaced the mattress pad and sheets it would not be $150, he told me it would cost $100. He did eventually give me $50 of my deposit back, but I feel that since I paid the deposit in cash they were looking for anything they could to be able to keep the cash. Maybe they were planning to share it amongst themselves, because they weren't putting it on my receipt until I insisted that it be listed on it, I'm not really sure. But deposits are meant for actual damages and to cover long distance phone calls and movie rentals. There was also problems working the TV, the channels were difficult to change and most buttons on the remote...
Read moreI wish I could give this hotel zero stars. My experience was extremely disappointing and concerning, and I hope this review helps others avoid the same issues.
We arrived around 2 PM and immediately noticed the lobby was uncomfortably hot — the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working. One of the elevators was also out of service. When we got to our room, the AC wasn’t functioning properly, and we discovered a thick layer of dust on the air filter. A light in the room began strobing as soon as it was turned on, which was alarming because my daughter has epilepsy. Maintenance responded quickly and helped with the light and air filter, but the room was missing a microwave, despite being listed on the website and confirmed earlier by phone.
Safety was also a major concern: none of the room doors had functioning key card locks — all doors were left unlocked 24/7. That made many guests, including myself, feel unsafe throughout the stay.
While maintenance was helpful, staff at the front desk were not. I was told to call down for a microwave, but the front desk agent was unresponsive, and ultimately the maintenance worker brought it up himself. He also made unprofessional comments and warned us not to eat the food at the hotel, which was unsettling.
Other families on our team experienced similar issues — dirty rooms, broken fixtures, and missing amenities. Some rooms had visible mold, strong odors, and even biological stains on the furniture. We were moved to different rooms multiple times, including once to the 4th floor, which was in even worse condition: no working AC, missing appliances, overwhelming smells, and visible signs of neglect like food in the hallway and what looked like vomit on the stairs.
At one point, we even got stuck in the elevator with multiple kids — a very frightening experience.
Back in our original room, more issues popped up: a smoke detector started chirping because of a dead battery and water was visibly leaking through the bathroom ceiling, which also had mold. We reported everything, but help was delayed or never arrived. I wasn't the only one upset — the lobby was full of guests complaining about their rooms, with reports of no towels, broken locks, missing essentials, and not even having a room assigned.
The hotel’s manager was not on-site and unreachable except by phone. Instead of helping, she reportedly made threats. Police were eventually called, and the health department and local news were contacted by guests due to the conditions.
Even after being moved to a third room after midnight, the new room had serious issues: a leaking toilet, mold inside the refrigerator, and more.
This was an incredibly stressful and unsafe stay. I understand every hotel can face challenges, but the level of neglect here — paired with poor customer service and unresolved safety issues — was unacceptable. I sincerely hope this property receives the attention it urgently needs from authorities and ownership.
Until major improvements are made, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel for your comfort, safety, and...
Read moreI booked this room as a quick 5 hr night stay for my friends and I, we were on our way to a car show and just needed to sleep and shower. I walked in to check in and was surprised to see a 150 dollar SECURITY DEPOSIT?! An additional charge to the room rate I had already paid? I was not notified that I would have to pay the whole reservation again when I arrived? It was 1 am so I didn’t try to fight with the gentleman about it, grabbed my room keys and my friends and we made our way up to the room- we were met with a elevator that was falling apart, got to our room and immediately the light struggled to turn on, the beds weren’t made and the room was humid and hot. As we got settled we noticed there were no towels, holes in the walls and that the bathroom smelled of urine and mildew and the shower had not been cleaned as it was covered in spider webs and dust. I reserved a room with two double beds and a pull out sofa, I pulled out the sofa bed and it was mangled and broken, nothing holding the mattress in place and the mattress was stained, had no sheets and was ripped. I went back downstairs and at this time is was about 2 am and I was tired and frustrated but I needed pillows and blankets, I went down to the desk to ask the gentleman for a couple blankets and pillows, I followed him over to the laundry area which was next to the ice machine and vending machines, the floor was covered in water and there were towels scattered everywhere and there was a vape and a half ate payday bar on the ice machine for any child to grab. He comes out with ONE flat sheet and tells me that’s all he has and at the same time a couple is trying to early check out at 2 am (I don’t blame them) I went back up to the room. I made the best of it- got ready when I woke up, we packed all of our stuff and went to check out and at the counter there was a mother and son also doing an early check out, honestly I’m seeing a trend. I check out and the front desk woman doesn’t ask me how my stay was, probably because she knew it was horrible. I have since called the Choice Hotels customer service line and told them all about this and they let me know that I probably wouldn’t get a refund- no shocker. I am extremely disgusted by this experience. I hope they close this hotel. Luckily the only upside is that our room didn’t have bedbugs 🫶🏻 Edit: additional things I forgot to mention- the phone in the room was disconnected (and was disgusting), we had TWO mini fridges and neither worked. There was one bar of soap and the desk chair had clothing stickers...
