As an overall dining experience, Kingfish deserves five stars. The dining room is softly lit and upscale looking. It's pleasurable to have a welcoming host seat you and check on you during your meal. A server just to fill your water, and yet another server to take your orders and serve your food and drink. If I had any complaints about the overall experience, it would be that the music is a tad loud. Now...I came at an odd time of day, and the restaurant was nearly empty and very quiet, so that may be why the music seemed louder than I expected.

I ordered a Bellini cocktail. I've seen pictures online, but never tried one. It was tasty, but not very attractive here, which was a slight disappointment. They have always looked prettier in pictures.

For an appetizer I chose the lobster bisque, and it was excellent. Very savory and creamy. A bread service was also provided, consisting of warm slices of sourdough bread and butter. I love sourdough bread, so I was delighted. So flavorful, and it was literally steaming, moist with a firm crust. The attention to detail in the piped butter was visually delightful.

I chose the trio for my main course. Shrimp, lobster tail and scallops, with lobster mashed potatoes and asparagus.

I won't lie. I'm an American accustomed to large portions for my money. And this menu choice was probably the most expensive on the menu. The lobster tail was miniscule. The shrimp and scallops were substantially sized, and everything was well prepared and tasty. I'm just spoiled I guess and have had the pleasure of eating lobster in a lobster pound in Maine with sides and a dessert for twelve bucks...so fifty dollars for a few bites of lobster hurts a little.

I will say that after the appetizer and main, I was satisfied and had intended to get the check and leave. But my server told me that there was both key lime pie and crème brûlée on the dessert menu and I was hooked. Two of my favorite desserts.

I will say that the menu choices here go very well together. Sourdough bread and key lime pie tie in very very well with the seafood theme.

Ultimately though, I opted for the crème brûlée, because I like to see how various restaurants execute it. I was intrigued at this restaurant's approach because it was presented with a cornbread Madeleine.

I was not impressed with the Madeleine.

They should be spongy and delicate. I think cornbread is a poor choice here. Cornbread is good and has its place, but it's too heavy for a Madeleine. It was heavy and dry. I took one bite and was disappointed.

The crème brûlée however was everything I wanted. The crust was nice and crunchy and fun to break into. The custard was rich and delicious. I did enjoy the two fat, juicy raspberries plopped on top. So juicy and a nice addition.

Overall, pricey, but a relaxing, upscale...

UPDATE 5/14/23: Came here again with my parents, husband, mother-in-law and child for Mother's Day again this year. Completely different experience from last time, and that's not a good thing.

Our reservation was for 12PM. We were promptly seated at our table and our server was kind and knowledgeable of the menu. Our appetizers came in a timely manner, but it went downhill from there. An hour goes by and we witnessed every table around us receive their appetizers and entrees before us. Many of those tables were seated a good half hour after we arrived. My mother got our waitress's attention and asked how much longer until the food arrived, and she said, "it's coming out right now." She explained to us that the restaurant was busy and they were bringing out appetizers first, then entrees. But everyone else's entrees but ours?? Ok. . ."Right now" turned into another half hour. The manager came and brought our food to the table and gave us the same excuse for the wait. I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it because the moment the staff knew they messed up, they avoided contact with us as much as possible, and offered us free dessert (why? to wait another hour and be forgotten???) without offering any formal apology for the inconvenience they caused us. The cherry on top was, when I was given my food in a to-go container, the waitress placed the bag ON THE FLOOR BY MY FEET instead of on the table.

I really hope our experience was a freak occurrence, because I would NOT recommend anyone travel 45 minutes to a place that will take hundreds of dollars out your pocket without providing service of the same value.

Dined here with family for Mother's Day. We were seated at our table 30 minutes earlier than our reservation time- a definite plus! I had the Steak Antoine and was not disappointed. The staff was very professional and kind. We plan on...

My family visited KingFish this afternoon to celebrate a birthday. My daughter and I partook in the lobster event promotion currently going on and it did not disappoint!! The food was delicious! Presentation of the meals and the atomosphere of this restaurant is great. I wanted to give a special review of gratitude to our server named Jim who made our visit with a fifteen year old teenager with anxiety feel comfortable in an environment that could be considered intimidating compared to fast food chains. She was shy and feeling self conscious but Jim easily made her smile and constantly had jokes going with her. Our family is not as rich or fancy compared to others but we like to expose our children to these things on occasion. Servers like Jim make it an enjoyable experience. However, I DID NOT like that the manager on shift did not ONCE stop by our table to inquire about service. We watched him go around onto other table who came after us and always seemed to pass our table up. I suppose we did not look as if we were worthy of his time to check on. Maybe it was the teenage daughter with an army bomber jacket on that gave him the impression that we would not care if he extended the courtesy to our table; because I’d hate to to think it was because we were a younger and interracial family that set us apart from the other patrons there this afternoon. When you neglect a table but for us on others you leave room for your customers to speculate the differences towards the treatment being extended! I suggest that manager pay attention to details and extend formal courtesy to ALL customers who choose to dine at the restaurant. Once agin, Jim our server and the food was excellent!! Definitely worth...

My family got together to celebrate my birthday 2/1/25. Reservation was honored on time and staff was very friendly. The food had some shortcomings. I LOVE oysters and was expecting to be blown away. Ordered the dozen blue point for an appetizer and the oysters looked pretty but had no taste at all. They also had no firmness and instead of having the juicy, shiney texture that slid out of the half-shell they were flat and hard to dig out with zero taste. I'm used to oysters tasting like the ocean these tasted like absolutely nothing. For my main I Ordered the trio. It was delicious but could have been a bit warmer, my potatoes were lukewarm at best. There were 7 in my party and only other disappointment was the chefs fish special was so over-seasoned that my Dad couldn't eat the chard and other garnish. The Delmonico steaks were cooked nice but we're not as juicy as a ribeye should be. We ordered dessert and everyone that had the ice cream said it was the best they ever had. I had coffee and it was nothing special, just house coffee. Overall pleasant experience but very disappointing on the oysters. I did try and contact your manager as you had asked and sent an email once I read your reply and I've never received a response.
