UPDATED 9/23: we have now gone 8 times- 2 brunch, 2 lunch, 3 dinner, and 1 time for drinks. We have also done carryout once. The biggest issue they are facing is lack of consistency and quality control. I’m putting a detailed review in hopes they make changes to improve, because I enjoy the location and it has good potential.
Brunch: I really enjoyed the veggie omelet the first time, so I ordered it again the second time— but it was completely different. The first time, it had spinach and tomato and no cheese. The second time it had spinach, mushroom, and onion with a lot of cheese on top. I don’t like three of those ingredients in omelets, so I was disappointed.
Lunch/dinner: almost every dish we have ordered has been missing something. I ordered the kale salad once, but their kitchen used lettuce instead. I ordered nachos twice and paid $10 for extra chicken the second time, and considering I had it once before, it definitely did not have extra. Plus the cheese was sparse. I ordered the chipotle salad twice and they forgot the beans each time.
Drinks: again with consistency. My husband ordered the old fashioned and the first time they forgot the simple syrup. He ordered the margarita and they forgot the St Germain. I’ve ordered the coco lime mojito four times, and no two have tasted the same.
Service: can be hit or miss with so many new employees. Some have been great, but others are clearly very new to working in a service industry— they need practice balancing friendly conversation while ordering but not sitting there talking to a table for 10 minutes while ignoring other tables— we waited 15 minutes just to figure out who our server was once.
Bottom line— obviously we have gone back. We like the food and drinks enough so far. Having worked as a bartender, hostess, and retail myself, I get there’s a learning curve. But I hope they work on these things.
Previous review:
We have gone three time during opening week— once for dinner, a second time just for a nighttime drink, and third for brunch.
The decoration/aesthetic is great. Even the restrooms were done up well. They created a comfortable atmosphere for people to relax and enjoy time with friends.
The had ample employees who were all very busy. But no trouble finding seats even when the parking lot was almost full.
Service was friendly, just a few kinks to be worked out as far as organization goes.
Food was pretty good. It is bar & grill food, but you should know that going in. Their Buffalo chicken dip was good— not the best in the area, but better than others in Montrose/Copley. We also tried one of their bowls and one of their salads. Good flavor to both. Drinks are also yummy, though they forgot an ingredient in my husband’s drink the first attempt— again, with almost all new staff, some things will need to be worked out. Bottomless mimosas was a nice perk for brunch, and their omelette and potatoes were both great. They forgot a couple of our add-ons (bacon and chicken), but again just working out the changes of opening a new restaurant. Will still go...
Read moreThe energy in that place is like a 5-year-old who just discovered cake—wild, uncontainable, and impossible not to get caught up in. The DJ knows exactly how to build the hype like they’re setting off a musical rollercoaster, taking you up and down through tempos and genres until your body is just one big bundle of “I can’t stop dancing”. It’s not just the music—it’s the atmosphere. It’s like being in a nightclub where the lights are actually made of pure joy. You can practically feel the happiness in the air, and I’m pretty sure the DJ is the air traffic controller of all your emotions.
If the DJ were a superhero, their name would be “Captain Groove”, and their power would be the ability to make you move like you’ve just had 3 espressos and been blessed by a hundred happy goats. The way they blend songs is like a chef throwing every single ingredient of joy into a pot and coming out with the most perfect, dancing-inducing stew you’ve ever tasted. Every song feels like it’s an appetizer for your soul, followed by the main course of “let’s dance until we forget it’s Sunday”, and a dessert of “wow, I can’t believe I just busted out that move”.
If you want to have the kind of night where you end up befriending half the bar and questioning if you’ve just accidentally joined the cast of a Broadway musical, then Town Tavern on the weekend is your destination. The DJ doesn’t just play songs—they play the soundtrack to your best memories, making sure your night becomes an instant classic.
In short, this DJ is the unsung hero of weekend nights, turning the place into a rave that’s masquerading as a friendly neighborhood bar. Get there, dance like you’re auditioning for the next season of “So You Think You Can Dance,” and thank the DJ for being a musical genius who’s way cooler than any superhero you’ve ever heard of. 10/10...
Read moreI stopped in for a meal yesterday and the restaurant wasn’t very busy. I ordered an old fashioned and asked for cheapest option and was told Makers Mark was the cheapest. Seemed a bit higher end but that was what the server told me was their cheapest option. Ordered deviled eggs which were delicious. Also ordered a flatbread pizza, was good but some was taken away before I could eat it. We also ordered two sides of Brussel sprouts that tasted very good although they were hard and a rock and not tender. The server would fly past our table and just start grabbing plates that had food on them without saying a word. I learned years ago when I waited tables to never take plates from the table that had food on them without asking first. So I was using a small plate to eat the pizza and had a piece on the plate that was taken. Also, a bowl that was half full of Brussel sprouts was taken before we finished. So, I was halfway done with my meal, boxes were brought to the table and we were asked if we wanted the bill and weren’t even done eating. Felt like we were being rushed and it was very uncomfortable. Also, server randomly asked if we wanted ranch and we said we would take a side only to find out that it was an upsell and we were charged. Then as we were being rushed out, the server took time to advertise their brunch. Overall, very unpleasant experience where we didn’t get to eat all the food we paid for and had to guard our table from the server who was stealing food that wasn’t finished. Plenty of other options when I go to that area in the future. I guess the server is more interested in getting bills as high as they can to drive up tips with no care as to the experience of the customer. Won’t...
