The hotel itself was your usual Marriott Courtyard. Not the best and not the worst. We checked in May 27 and stayed until May29, 2022. We were in the area to go to the beach and North Padre Island National Wildlife Refuge.
The night we checked in I brought all our things in from the car before departing for dinner. Among our things was a pair of Swarovski binoculars valued at $2000. We went to dinner and came back to the room. The next morning gathering our things for the day I couldn’t find the binoculars. I assumed I had maybe left them in the car. After searching the car and the room several times we could not find the binoculars. There were no apparent signs of forced entry to the room or the car. There were other valuables in the car that were not taken and it was locked. So it appears that staff or someone with access to their key system. Believing this was done by staff I didn’t mention it at the time.
I received a survey from Marriott and detailed the los of the binoculars. I received an email from the manager wanting to discuss the problem. I am retired and don’t check email as often as I apparently should and it was a few weeks before I saw the email when cleaning up my inbox. I wrote the manager back and have never heard another word about it.
This is only the second problem I have ever had with the Marriott chain. The other had to do with the fact that you don’t apparently have a reservation when you make one and they may book a room for you they don’t have. The JW Marriott Austin did that to us but adequately adjusted our rate on the spot. We have found (my family and friends who often use the Marriott brand) this brand to be very responsive and accommodating for the 40 years we have used them. So we believe this is a local management and or staff problem with this...
Read moreWellll was very disappointing! Me and my kids stayed 3 nights our first 20 minutes getting to the hotel started terrible I drove for 5 hrs straight so I couldn’t wait to lay on the bed for a few minutes. Well I did and plop nasty moldy water hit my face from some type of leak was soooo gross ! I will post a picture ! So the GM instead of being nice and apologetic she had an attitude of what’s the problem and never once apologized ! The rest of the staff at the hotel were amazing ! So we were moved to another room on the 3rd floor. Where ac doesn’t work in the hallways and it smelled like straight mold ! In the rooom the ac worked but not the fridge it was frozen up , the coffee maker also didn’t work! So I go to get ice from the ice machine I’m hot from moving to the new room so in thirty mins I’ve unpacked twice moved from a moldy water leak room into smelly hot area where nothing worked when I went to get ice Surprise the ice machine did not work either !!! The only good thing about this place was that there was not super loud people that’s all . Also bugs everywhere . I don’t normally post reviews but if you work hard to save for vacation and you end up like I did it is sad ! Also you will be charged 20.00 a day for possible damage. Even the window to our room had A big hole in it !! that is a joke especially since everything is already broken !! Sad frustrating trip !the moldy room is 113 the hot halls were on the 3rd floor also alllll the broken stuff was in room 315 . I plan on talking to someone about it me and my kids did nothing but sneeze and cough. Single mom cannot afford to go on vacation when we want we planned the vacation for the...
Read moreWe stayed there on June 6 -7, however, we checked in and left, came back around 9pm. The smoke alarm kept beeping and the refrigerator did not work. I called the front desk to be told that someone set off the alarm by mistake. Then after about 5 minutes a bug landed on me, I killed it. Then another one. I asked my friend what it was and she said she killed one too by the pillow. We moved the pillow and a lot of bugs were there. I went to the front office and they changed the room to the 3rd floor because the fire alarm was beeping in all the rooms on the 2nd floor. We were going to get our things but were told to leave them there while they used a machine to send high oxygen to kill the knats. I believe they were termites, they were all around the wooden headboard. Also, the sheets were dirty when we pulled the sheets back. We left our things, went to the 2nd room and the ac did not work properly nor did the refrigerator. Called front desk and they replace the refrigerator and the second one did not work. I went downstairs and complained to Expedia. When Expedia called them, the front clerk started yelling at us and telling us we had 10 minutes to leave the property. Very horrible experience, DO NOT stay there. The reason I am writing this review if because to date I still have not heard any response from them regarding this situation. I have called numerous times. We had to go to another hotel at 11:30 at night. By the way, I took their blow-dryer while trying to get our stuff in the 10 minute window and returned it the next day, the only thing the manager said...
