I went there looking for stencils, paint that I can use on an outdoor mirror, and a stick on measuring tape. The store had plenty of stencils to choose from and a lot of other cool things to look at. Finding an employee to help me with the paint selection was difficult. It took about 5 minutes for one to come show me the aisle where the paints I was looking for were on. I started walking down the aisle, took maybe 4 steps, turned around to ask a question, but the employee was gone. A Customer close by must have saw my, "I don't ____ing believe this" expression, because he started asking me questions about what I needed the paint for. After telling him, he told me which paint is best, pointing out differences between the brands and kind of paints. He was very helpful. I selected my paint, then went aisle by aisle looking at everything and looking for my tape. I couldn't find it or an employee on the floor, so I had to walk up to the front where the registers are and wait in line to ask where it is. I was told I could find it in the back corner. I went, I looked, and couldn't find it. Looked around for an employee, no such luck, back up to the front, where an employee was called to help me over the PA system. A few minutes later, one finally shows up and takes me to 3 different areas before the tape was found. So, I'm happy with the products I bought, but NOT the...
Read moreI bought a ton of things based on discount signs up all over the store.
I got home, looked at my receipt, and noticed the most expensive items were full price, even though there were signs up in 3 places: post-Easter, silk flowers by brand, and silk flowers "spring collection".
I'm sure that in a corner in 12 point font there was an expiration date on the signs with "50% off all" in gigantic 6 inch high numbers and letters.
There was no effort for anyone to take down expired offers. In fact, I bet it's company policy to deliberately bait and switch consumers this way.
Yes, i know, "technically" the expiration date is on the sign, but you know and i know that they put it in microscopic print deliberately. It's thinly veiled deception.
I'm taking all the full price items back tomorrow. Yes, i made a mistake by not reading. What they don't count on is that i will correct it. Well, they are sadly mistaken.
Also, i will not be shopping there again unless i need something specific. I do not approve of people who take advantage of poor people who dream of having something nice they can't normally afford. This store pretends to provide a window of opportunity, then slams it shut before we even get a chance to peek through...
Read moreI have not visited Michael’s in a few years. The prices are extremely high compared to Hobby Lobby or JoAnne’s. The selection of floral picks is almost nonexistent. I asked an employee about the limited stock and he said they were downsizing that department quickly but he didn’t know why. I couldn’t find prices on most items so I was instructed to use the one self-serve pricing station. I wanted a price on a greenery bush which to my dismay was almost $40. I looked at the one clearance area which was terribly small. Most items did not have a price but also, most were not anything anyone would wish to purchase. So many items found at Michael’s can be bought at Walmart or any other crafting outlet for reasonable prices. Michael’s has changed, IMO. They used to be slightly higher on cost but were still competitive. That simply is no longer the case. At the current prices and not any higher quality, I can’t imagine they can stay in business for a long...
