To say I’m disappointed, that would be an understatement. We travel the US and visit many different areas but Cracker Barrel had always been the one thing that remains constant. At all other locations excellence is normal behavior.
However, this location was the exception. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a hostess on her cell phone. She looked irritated that we were wanting to be seated. Nothing friendly or chipper about her personality.
We were seated in a rather empty section and began to review the menu. Over 10 minutes passed and we had not been greeted by a server. Several walked by but not one stopped to check on our table. I then had to get up to ask the hostess if we could be moved due to no server. At that time a server overheard me asking to be moved. She offered to take our table and be the server. She came over swiftly and collected our full order. She informed us our server would be out shortly as she was in the bathroom throwing up at that time… gross (a sick employee should not be working in a customer-facing environment. Especially not around children). I declined allowing her to serve our table. After the order was taken, another server came and stated he would be our server. Didn’t catch his name but he was great (this is why I gave “5 stars” for service). He was attentive, polite, and made sure we were taken care of.
When the food arrived, my husband’s order had been keyed in incorrectly. He decided to eat it anyways since we had already waited about 30minutes to receive this order.
There was a manager on site. He seemed to know about the whole fiasco due to the countless times he looked at our table but chose not to come over and ensure we were okay.
This location seemed unorganized, under managed, and unclean.
To add insult to injury while we were eating, a small child came around pressuring tables to buy candy from him. Normally I probably would have but I chose not to this time. No restaurant should allow solicitors to sell competing items at the table.
Families go out to dinner for a peaceful experience and overall I was extremely disappointed with this Cracker Barrel.

Read moreService was terrible. We waited a while before our server Daniel came to take our order. When he brought our water out he said he had to greet another table who were sitting next to us. Then he took our order. We asked for bread and first he said we’d have to pay for it. After reviewing our order he said 3 of our meals came with bread. We waited a while before he brought our bread. He had failed to provide us any silverware. We asked the hostess as she walked by for silverware. She said she would tell our waiter. After a few minutes we settled for spreading the butter from the little container without the silverware. We were finished eating our bread when Daniel came by without our silverware. We again asked for our silverware. He eventually brought our silverware. He said our order would be out shortly. By this time we had been sitting for about 30 minutes. We continued to wait for another 15 minutes when he brought the food out for the table that were seated after us. I called Daniel’s name out and signaled for him to come over. He did so at which time he told me that he only “got paid $2 an hour and he didn’t have to put up with any yelling at him”. First I didn’t yell at him as he only was one table over from us. I told him that we were seated much longer than the other table and wondered why our order wasn’t ready before the other table. He said he didn’t care and he would let anyone yell at him. He said he would be out with our order snd left our table. We then immediately decided we were leaving. In total we were seated and waiting for our order for about an hour. My wife informed the retail manager of our experience and advised she would tell the manager. We have been customers of Cracker Barrel for years at other locations and have never had such a...
Read moreWe took the family out to Cracker Barrel this last Sunday and the host wrote our guest count down wrong in the computer. They called us up and discovered they did not have a table for us. So, we waited then after another 20 or so minutes they called us again and once again no table ready. When I asked why you keep calling us up, but you do not have a table ready. The GM got ugly with me, when I asked why we were still waiting once again after being called to be seated twice now. She then barked at me that my guest count changed, and I said no ma'am we have always been a group of five not two, your host put it in wrong. She then threatened me by saying I can take you off the list as to say you will not be seated at all. I have never been talked to like that by a manager before. About ten minutes later they had a table for us, and we walked past a tall professional looking woman that worked there and the whole time I had figured she was the GM not the shorter lady, but the tall lady was the assistant manager. I asked her to please come and see me at my table when she had time, and she did. She was very professional and talked with us and also apologized for the GMs manner. The GM needs to do better much better, and the Assistant needs her own restaurant she was outstanding. I will not go back to this location due to the way I was treated by the restaurants GM. The GM is the caption of the restaurant and the way that person hold and portrays them self is how the staff and others will portray themselves and represent the restaurant. Cracker Barrel you should do something about this individual, classes or something, but threatening a customer to "take them off the list" is never a good thing and surely not good...
