Our recent family gathering at this hotel last weekend left us with a mix of impressions, with both highlights and challenges that defined our stay.
The initial impression upon entering the hotel was impressive. The lobby exuded a sense of grandeur, and the spacious rooms offered a welcome departure from the cramped spaces often encountered in the North East. The adage "Everything is bigger in Texas" truly rang true in this context. Loved the spacious and clean rooms!
Our family gathering comprised around twenty families, adding a sense of togetherness and excitement to the weekend. However, our stay was marked by several notable glitches.
Firstly, the room-to-room phone system failed to function, which hindered communication between guests. This inconvenience was compounded by a cold cup of coffee in the lobby, requiring us to request hot replacements, which were promptly delivered within ten minutes.
A promising feature was the Keurig coffee maker in the room. Unfortunately, our hopes for a caffeine fix were dashed when the machine failed to work.
The most significant issue arose when we encountered technical difficulties with the conference room audio/video equipment. Despite our efforts to seek assistance from the hotel staff, we were met with the frustrating response that the responsible person was unavailable and traveling. Our request for technical support went unaddressed throughout our two-night, three-day stay.
In an attempt to salvage the situation, we managed to set up temporary audio arrangements. However, during our family presentation via the projector, we faced recurring issues as the PPT continuously crashed. We opted to resolve this independently, recognizing that further assistance was unlikely.
Another concerning incident involved a room with a malfunctioning front door lock. Despite reporting the issue at the lobby, the response was less than satisfactory, with a promise to send a plumber that went unfulfilled.
Despite these setbacks in the realm of service and technical support, our family gathering managed to find enjoyment in the spacious accommodations, impressive conference room, and well-appointed dining area. The round tables, each comfortably seating eight, and the pleasant lighting contributed to our overall positive experience.
To our fortune, our hosts had arranged for external catering, delivering a gastronomically delightful dining experience that elevated our spirits and allowed us to create cherished memories.
In conclusion, our stay at this hotel was a blend of ups and downs. The spacious rooms and welcoming ambiance were notable strengths, while service-related glitches and technical issues dampened a little bit. Nevertheless, the spirit of family togetherness prevailed, and the joy of creating lasting memories prevailed over the challenges encountered...
Read moreI have never been treated with such disrespect as I was when staying at this hotel. I brought my registered Service Dog with me to the front desk to inquire about an extra key. My SD is trained and was being such a good boy. immediately the male employee behind the desk asked if he was a service animal. I said yes, and before I could even finish speaking, he rudely, and illegally asked me what ailment did I have that required a service animal. i calmly told him he isn't supposed to be asking such a question, and also, it's none of his business why I need a service animal. so after getting the extra keys, I went back up to the room. this was the last day of our stay we were supposed to check out the next morning. The next day, we decide to extend our stay for 2 more night, so we booked it thru priceline. when we called the front desk from a cellphone, (because the phone in our room did not work) to inform them we had booked 2 more nights, the manager told us that we would not be able to stay any longer. one of his employees told him that my good boy "jumped on him and humped his leg" which he would never do. i asked him to check the cameras, because I know for a fact the employee lied. he said he would check them. As we were waiting to hear back from him after viewing the footage, we called down to the front desk and were told that he could not access the footage and that the employee changed his story and said that my dog "crawled up his leg". we told him that nothing like that happened and he said he did not care, he was trusting the employee, even though he had just changed his story. the manager was ridiculously rude throughout this whole process and was of absolutely no help and would not listen to anything we had to say. so I went down to the front desk to speak to him in person. I asked for the manager, and a tall super skinny man with a gaunt face pokes his head out from the office, his eyes were as big as saucers and he barely blinked the whole time I tried to talk to him, but he could barely focus on one thing I was saying without eyes darting around the room nonstop, without fumbling with papers or typing on the computer. he could not keep his focus on me, the customer, and had large beads of sweat on his forehead. (I suspected he was under the influence of stimulants) not 100% sure, but if it acts like a duck, and walks like a duck....
I would not recommend staying at this hotel. There are plenty hotels in the area that would show you respect and offer amazing...
Read more1st I'd like to start by saying, I understand that the hotel had some renovations underway, but that was taken into account when writing this.
On our most recent stay we pull up to the hotel with the lights going on and off and on and off in the drive and parking lot. It was a dark night, so at times while unloading our vehicle for the night the parking lot was barely lit and felt unnerving. Upon entering the clerk did not recognize or thank us for being IHG Rewards members at all, though she was kind enough. She informed us of the construction and where breakfast would be and that the entire 3rd floor was under renovation so only 1 elevator would be available. She also then informed us a homeless person was seen around the hotel and some of the doors were locked. Which made the lighting issue outside all the more troubling. How safe were any of the families unloading their vehicles outside. My family got up to our king suite room and began to unpack and try and relax for the evening. We reserved a room for 2 adults and 2 kids, however no bedding or extra pillows were in the room. As we opened the sofa sleeper for our kids it was covered in long black hair and we found gum wrappers and soda bottle caps folded into the bed. When I went down to get bedding for the kids and report the dirty sofa bed, I was simply given an apology as well as only sheets for the sofa bed. No blanket, no pillows. I was informed they were out of extra pillows. With an entire floor shut down for renovations I'm curious how. Also if a room is booked for 4 guests, having the bedding and pillows already in the room would make sense. Not the fault of the hotel, but around 1130ish pm kids were running up and down the hall past our room for several minutes. The following morning we went to a very cramped conference room for breakfast. The food options were okay, but needed restocking. In the conference room they had 2 tables set up for people to sit and eat, however only 2 chairs. It was a tight space they were using for breakfast with the event and breakfast areas also under renovation. But if you have 2 tables, I would have expected 4 chairs per table for guests that didn't want to carry breakfast back to their rooms.
One of the reasons I consistently stay at IHG is because the experience is consistent. Good clean rooms, good service, a nice breakfast; so it's my guess that this experience is going to be an outlier. But I'm not...
