This place delivered just what they said they would - a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price. I have been staying here when I come to Dallas each year for the State Fair, which is quite close. The rooms are clean and a decent size. Not fancy, so you may need to be tolerant of a few minor things like small cracks in the drywall around the windows. I appreciated the microwave and mini-fridge (both squeaky clean), and the refrigerator was nice and cold (many budget motels "save electricity" by raising the temperature, so you have to worry your food will spoil and poison you). Nice big TV with easy to use controls AND a channel guide, which most places don't offer. Reasonably quiet. The parking lot felt safe, I felt safe bicycling around the area for exercise, and there were no "undesirables" hanging around the property or having family feuds during the night (as I have encountered elsewhere). No bugs - which is important because in the past I have picked up roaches from a motel, which took a full year to get out of my house. Some things I did not like were the staff can be a bit lippy, and they seem to treat their guests like children. There are a lot of "rules." For one, you cannot pay ahead on-line. For a three-night stay, I had to stop at the front desk and pay EACH MORNING, which was a PITA and interrupted my work schedule. For another, in their contract "fine print," they have a clause that says they can enter your room at any time for any reason. The logical reason for this is housekeeping. I do NOT like the maid service coming into my room, and requested a Do Not Disturb sign. They said they do not have that option. I had to make a big hub-bub to get them to note that I did not want anyone coming into my room. To be sure, I resorted to making my own sign to put over the door lock, as well as positioned a chair against the inside of the door with a note on it, to make sure housekeeping would stay out. Oddly enough, the "rules" seemed to change, depending on who was at the front desk. The lady said I had to pay each morning for each night's stay, but the guy let me pay for my last two nights at the same time. These two issues ticked me off enough that I considered staying somewhere else next time I'm in Dallas. But I read reviews of neighboring motels, even "nice" big name hotels, all of which were pretty bad, and came to decide that with Motel 6, you know what you will be dealing with - a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price. The bug-free thing is a big deal to me, and so is the cold refrigerator. Considering my budget and the other options in the area, I think I can put up with a little BS from the staff, and will plan to stay here during future...
Read moreIn simple terms, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I had. To start off when we first arrived at the hotel everything seemed to smell like mold and the elevator was not working properly. After checking in and going to the rooms, both rooms smelled strongly of mold and marijuana. We checked the 2nd and 3rd floor to see if it was just our rooms but quickly figured out that it was the whole hotel that smelled that pungent. We tried to get rid of the smell with fragrance spray after the hotel staff refused to do anything about it but the smell didn't go away.
Other than the extremely pungent marijuana and mold smell the room itself was more bearable. There were wholes in the baseboards near the air conditioner, the bathroom toilet was leaking constantly filling the floor with puddles of water.
Furthermore, the staff was very disrespectful during the stay. They were not willing to fix any of the issues and when brought up they said that if we did not like it we could leave without a refund. During the stay they also locked us out of our room because they said visitors were not allowed. I tried to explain to them that they were visitors and I felt it was outrageous to not be allowed to have visitors in the rooms as long as it did not exceed the capacity and that it was even more outrageous to lock us out of our rooms because of that. After attempting to talk to the workers and the managers more, they said that only people that where named on the room reservation where allowed up to the room even if they were not staying the night. Because I had enough with the other problems and wanted to jut enjoy my trip to Dallas, I asked them if I could pay a for any guest we had and they aggressively said no. If I did not like their no visitors policy then I could leave without a refund. I tried to work with them to see if we could come to a payment agreement and they refused to help.
I am not a high maintenance person and understand what to expect when paying for a value hotel but I don't think that any person should be treated the way that they treated us as well as no one should have to stay in those living conditions when they are paying for it. I strongly recommend that the hotel gets an inspection for both the mold and illegal...
Read moreYou get what you pay for. It was not all bad and not all good but for a 2 night stay. The location is accessible right off I-30. The area is horrible... yes the neighborhood is not one to be walking around at all at night. The place did have a strange smell over all. The elevator was old but did it's job. Our room was very clean but it was very muggy, the ac worked, the lights worked, the bed was rather stiff but for 2 nights stay we made it work. The bathroom was ok, water worked, the toilet ran a few times, the outlets did not work though. There was soap for the shower but no shampoo/conditioner bottles for your stay. There was no swimming pool, no fitness center. We stayed on the 2nd floor so the room next to us was rather noisy and the room above us was always walking heavy and making loud sounds. Around 415am we received a phone call and so one was on the other end.. creepy. The parking lot was well lit with lights however we parked every close to our room so we can see our car out the window. On Sat night there was a argument outside our window a male and female were having a quarrel but then he left and it was quiet for the most part. The other guest were friendly. No panhandlers hung around the entrance but there was a lot of people going in and out. There was no coffee in the lobby from what I remember and the over all appearance was a run down motel flipped into a motel 6. My boyfriend reminded me that it was a Motel 6 not a Hotel 6. If you require a quick and easy stay with absolutely no accommodations this is the place for you. But if you want a nice place to enjoy your stay... there is a Holiday inn across the way. We will not stay here again but for what we went for it was a...
