Recently, my son-in-law was in grave medical condition in July and it was necessary for us to travel to Deland, FL to see him before he died. Having had such a wonderful experience in Cambridge, OH (as well as on various other stays with Hampton Inn), we booked a room at the Hampton Inn & Suites Deland on July 21-22. To our surprise, these accommodations were extremely lacking. The staff was courteous and helpful and showed sympathy toward our situation. But the facility itself has been neglected. In the main hotel, one of the two elevators in the lobby was not functioning and a printed sign that had been there for some time said it was out of order…the hotel hallways were extremely warm because there was no air conditioning in the hallways…and none of the ice machines on the 4 upper floors worked. For my wife to get ice, she had to go to the front desk and was told the only functioning ice machine was on the main floor. These 3 situations affected all hotel guests.||When we got to room #322 after check-in, we found problems beyond those that affected all guests. Sadly, each of these problems we experienced could have been corrected by the hotel maintenance. | 1) The sliding glass shower door would not stay closed and instead would slide 18” open which would allow water to spray on the bathroom floor. I jammed a wash cloth in the door to keep it closed.| 2) The door to the bathroom is a sliding door and was too difficult for my wife to open or close. It needs some sort of adjustment so it will close and open easily.| 3) On the charging station on the night stand, none of the receptacles work so it is not possible to plug in a plug or charge a phone.| 4) The handle on the cabinet beneath the television was missing a screw, so the handle just flopped.||The reason I am writing is to let you know that this particular location does not meet the quality hotel guests expect of the Hampton Inn brand. If all your hotels lack the attention to details that we experienced here, you will lose business. We haven’t given up on Hampton Inn, but were disturbed that this hotel has been so badly neglected. We had hoped our hotel room would give us a sense of peace and solace in this time of tragedy. Instead, it made the stay in this hotel...
Read moreFrom the moment we walked into this place it was a great experience the girl at the front desk Jessica was a delight to deal with and offered such a warm welcome when we came through the front door. The room is clean although we did find an old bandanna behind the couch and a peanut wrapper under the bed everything else was perfect. The interior of the room is very modern and all updated it’s very comfortable and the bed was pretty good . Somehow we received a handicap room although it did have a very involved shower with multiple showerheads which was pretty cool and lots of different handles to hold onto no complaints there. Breakfast in the morning is well worth the extra price you might pay it’s not just your standard continental breakfast it’s a very fully involved and very delicious breakfast well worth the money. The breakfast in the morning has everything from scrambled eggs to sausage along with your standard carbohydrates like oatmeal waffles and different types of bread and muffins along with bagels. They also offer some fresh pressed juices like mango banana and strawberry and some type of green one also. They have coffee and hot chocolate 24 hours a day right across from the front desk although you cannot buy any milk in the middle of the night just FYI . If you’re deciding to get some cookies at 10 o’clock there is no way to get yourself some milk unfortunately. They do have a laundry room on the second floor if you need to do laundry and ice machines per usual on every floor near the elevators. I paid $107 for my room on hotels tonight and I was very happy with that I upgraded for another $12 and got the larger bed instead of two small ones and that was also very much worth the money. I would definitely stay here again and I would definitely say this is a five star review there’s nothing I would’ve changed and nothing that could’ve gone better . Management staff should definitely recognize Jessica for her awesome energetic outgoing enthusiastic...
Read moreI usually wait to do a Survey this time I did it way ahead, I think that this management is not for this Wonderful hotel. These people do not know how to be kind to anyone who is staying in this hotel. Deland is a My Area I support and having to deal with a Mismanagement of your stay is incorrect leaving was a Mortifying experience I will never forget, I was mortified at how I was treated during my Checkout due to the fact that I was kicked out for no reason only helping others in a situation of a horrible Hurricane Irma, I cannot believe how this was handled it was not a vacation and being price gouged is not a human experience I would Ever expect to be kicked out after paying such a High Price for a Hotel that was so needed. I believe I am due A, I am sorry for the Way I treated you in front of over 50 people staring at me during breakfast time, while I had my 400.00 dollars cash recite thrown at me to and told in front of Everyone to get out. I am still waiting for a apology I always stay in the best of Hotels never anything less. I would be cautious of this place due to mismanagement and the horrible way they handled such a horrible time in a bad situation. Heartless is what I will call this stay. Due to Mismanagement. No one should be treated in such a way. I was brought up to treat others as I want to be treated & Brought up to know that the Customer or Guest is Always right.. I wont ever stay here again. Why because of the Mismanagement of my Stay. I believe they need A new manager and assistant manager.. That's what I say. Horrible experience in front of everyone. Not the way to handle people they need a class...
