As a business owner myself, I see a deep-seated leadership problem at our local Office Depot. It's management is trying to save money by chronically under-staffing the store. The print shop and check out staff are trying to be helpful and are competent, but the impatient customers and their unrealistic workload has them stressed out. Although they try to be courteous to customers, it comes across as strained and insincere. They are more openly grumpy with each other, but I don't blame them for the toxic culture. It's a leadership issue. All of this translates into long wait times for customers, and I've met my breaking point in which I'll now drive to Orange City's Staples instead for office supplies and bring copy/print jobs to great local businesses Express Printing and Quality Quickprint who do great work with truly friendly service. Oh for the days when Office Depot had some local competition to keep quality up for customers. (Nen at Office Max's print shop was a consummate professional, making every customer feel cared for while doing an impeccable technical job with their print jobs.) So sadly, Office Depot's efforts to increase their profit margin is backfiring as they lose regular customers like myself. I wouldn't be surprised if this location closes. Or perhaps they'll listen to honest feedback like this and make the...
Read moreSpent over thirty minutes to do a self-service print, sign and scan task. And there was a glitch in their system that returned black scanned images, not the printed document. The employees tried again to see if it would work but with the same result. The store only has two self-service printers and don’t have a full service option for printing, signing and scanning documents. I waited over 15 minutes just to get a turn at the printer. The employees had no idea what the problem was a didn’t try to reach to anyone above them they may have been able to help. I stopped at a local private mail service center on my way home and they were able to scan my document and email it to me in under three minutes total time. It was perfect. I’ll never return to this Office Depot for any reason. I highly recommend that you use your local small businesses as much as possible. With any luck, this Office Depot will go the way of the rest of the big box office stores. It doesn’t deserve...
Read moreI had the worst experience at Office Depot. The manager casually mentioned that because of the holiday weekend, they were “sleeping” on promotions – yes, she actually said that as a joke. I then picked out a few high-end chairs (in the $400-$600 range) and asked about their price match policy. The manager bluntly reminded me there were no promotions going on. Fine.
However, when I pointed to a large sign in the breezeway advertising $100 off Shaq and Serta chairs with free assembly, the manager shook her head and said, "No, that shouldn’t be there." What? A huge sign that’s clearly visible to customers and they won’t honor it? She claimed they were “between promotions” and refused to honor the advertised offer.
I walked out, and it’s safe to say I won’t be returning. They lost a sale and potentially many more after I share this experience. This is by far the most frustrating and unprofessional shopping experience I’ve had....
