My husband and I decided at the last minute to spend one night in Depoe Bay so we could explore the area more as well as celebrate our 14 year wedding anniversary and to relax after a very stressful week.
The Inn at Arch Rock was not our first choice, despite the fact that I kept going back to it when meticulously searching for a hotel for our one-night stay. Ultimately though, this hotel was the best fit for us due to the distance to the stores and restaurants. Also, because we wanted a room with an ocean view for an affordable price.
When I called the hotel I was greeted by a very friendly member of their staff. I explained that I was calling to give them a time of arrival and ultimately we both decided it would be best to have the hotel call me when the room was ready because I did not the specific time of our arrival. I thought that this was a fantastic idea as I have never been offered this before at any hotel ever. We arrived at Depoe Bay around 10:45 and spent a few hours looking at the stores, having lunch and looking at the ocean. We were done around 1:15pm and so I decided to call on the off chance that the room would be ready. Thankfully when I called, a gentleman said that yes, it would be ready within 5-10 minutes and to come over and by the time we were done with our check in, we should be able to go to our room.
The gentleman at the front desk was incredibly nice and accommodating. After a quick check in, we headed to room #10. Upon walking into the room, we saw that there was champagne on ice, two champagne glasses, as well as a personalized anniversary card waiting for us on the dining table. We were thrilled as most places don’t do this anymore unless you pay an extra fee. The card actually made me well up a bit.
The room is set up with two queen beds that are separated by a “pony wall” or partition. I really think this was my only “dislike” for this room, but I was well aware of this set up when I booked the room. It was a small negative to the room, in comparison to all of the positives. This meant that my husband and I could not sleep in the same bed. I apparently have a tendency to stealing the blankets as well as hitting in the face with my floppy arms while sleeping. 😊 So, I do wish it had a King bed, but we survived.
The room has an absolutely spectacular view of the coves and ocean and with the binoculars provided in our room, we could watch the boats go by way out in the distance. We only turned the tv on once while we were there and that was only because it was time to wind down and go to sleep. The rest of the time spent in the room, we sat on the padded bench seats in front of the cornered windows watching and listening to the waves crashing on the rocks below.
The room is also equipped with a gas fireplace which is the rooms main source of heat. We had left the window cracked for quite a while, so we definitely needed to heat up the room and the fireplace did the job quickly. There are all of the necessities needed to cook a small meal in your room including a stove, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, cooking and eating utensils as well as dish washing supplies.
The breakfast available in the lobby was small but very adequate. They had muffins, bagels, bacon, juice, coffee, etc. We chose to bring our food back up to our room where I was able to use our provided toaster instead. But there is seating available for folks that would like to eat their food right there.
Parking is limited but incredibly convenient.
All in all, our one-night stay was fantastic. After overhearing a conversation from another guest who was checking out after a 2-week stay, I’d say that this hotel has definitely won over our hearts but others as well. We hope to be able to return another time for a longer stay at this amazing hotel.
Thank you to the staff for your hospitality and...
Read moreDetails, details, details.... Or, lack thereof... I made this reservation through the front desk with the on-site manager. She seemed polite on the phone. When I arrived the room was nice and clean, cozy and the stafff members were super friendly and delightful in every way. There seemed to be one major detail left out when my reservation was made. CONSTRUCTION! More on that later. I walked down the stairs to the private beach access. Very nice! As I walked up the steep stairwell, I noticed a stair that had broke and it was in an extremely horrible spot that could cause injury. I notified staff and they took care of it lckity split. I was in for night two for some seriously needed R & R, when I noticed that the remote did not work for the TV. I was so exhausted I couldnt even get up to change the channel so I retired for the night. When I hit the restroom before bed I noticed the toilet was plugged, and it had been barley used during my stay, as I was out and about. The little information page in the room said "office closes at 6pm-for emergencies call - - - - - - - - Well, I didn't feel it was an emergency, so I just let it go figuring I would deal with it in the morning. Then I woke to a hammering nise coming through my opened bathroom window. I got up, looked outside, and sure enough they were working on a building just 10 feet away. I came here for peace and quiet. I was never told they were under construction. I would have never booked this room, as I frquently stay in certain hotels up and down the Oregon coast year round. This was a very big bummer, and practically ruined my trip. I had to move to another room, which added insult to injury. Three trips later the room I moved into was nice and clean, as well. Nice view and all. But no screens on the windows, so bugs and army ants were coming in, the front door was so sqeaky it sounded like a horror movie effect. then I went to use the flashlight in the room and-yes, dead batteries. It seems that there is just no attention to detail here, as they are in transition building construction just feet away from the paid lodging guests. I confronted the manager on some of these issues (particularly the issue with not telling me they were under construction) and she seemed to get a bit "kooky", for lack of a better word. Other than that, gorgeous bay views, gorgeus weather, nice barbeque grill, nice lawn/sitting areas, Nichole and Darcy rock with their stellar customer service! given the right time and circumstances and a bit more attention to minor effortless details that should be maintained, this place has the potential to be a very...

If you’re looking for a room with a view, this place would be hard (if not impossible) to beat. Unfortunately, the “Arch” crumbled in 2004, but don’t worry, the views are still among the best coastal vistas on the planet! We stayed in room 7. I’m sure that all of the rooms have spectacular views, but unless you’re staying in one of their new Suites, ask for room 7. It has the best views. I actually couldn’t believe it when we walked in. We’ve stayed in lots of hotels with great views, but this one is something special. If you’re traveling with family or friends, try out the Suites. They are newly remodeled. Beautiful! And of course, the views are to die for. Aside from the views, it’s a charming hotel in a charming little Oregon coastal town. You can’t go wrong here! Keep your windows open at night, the sound of the waves crashing is wonderful.
Checkin / out: The staff are wonderful! Friendly, welcoming, helpful, and very accommodating. Checkin and checkout were easy and quick.
Cleanliness: We were happy to find the room spotless.
Bed: The bed was OK. We had a queen (we prefer a king, I guess we’re spoiled…) which was comfortable, but the pillows were in serious need of an upgrade.
Décor: Depending on which room you stay in, you’ll either have nice (if a bit dated) decor with comfortable furniture, or if you stay in their recently updated Suites, you’ll have wonderfully updated rooms with modern décor, tastefully decorated and the best of everything.
Nearby: The little town of Depoe Bay is within easy walking distance (about 1 mile roundtrip.) You’ll find a variety of restaurants, touristy gift shops, all the salt water taffy you’d ever care to eat, boating excursions, and of course, some of the most amazing ocean views anywhere. A little closer is the Tidal Raves Seafood Grill. At the very least, stop in for a drink and enjoy the views…
Parking: There’s ample parking right in from of the rooms. No...
