ย ย ย Read moreDEpeo Bay is a treasure hidden in plain sight. My wife and I were criuising north on the coast highway and just happened to stop here. We are very glad we did. There is a very nice walkway beside the highway that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. There were a lot of people on the walkway looking out onto the ocean. Some had binoculars. It did not take long for us to realize that there were some very large whales in the waters just under to overlook. It was magic. We felt as though we had discovered whales. They were very active and we saw a low of whale blows. They were also raising their tails out of the water to dive. We visited a whale museum there that added to the experience. Whales may be here on regular migrations and may not be here all the time. We may have just been very lucky. To top of the experience, we saw some Coast Guard vessels go in and out of the harbor several times. Since the opening to the harbor is very small, these bots had very little clearance on the sides. Depoe Bay may be the smallest harbor and harbor entrance on the...

Several spots will have waves shooting up in the sky as the water hits the wall protecting the city. Is also a good spot to see whales. The whale watching station is on main street and they have people there during whale watching for both December(when migrate south to Mexico) and again in June (when they come back through with the little ones.) The whale watch tours are sometimes a hit or miss but they sure try hard to make it happen. In summer it's like zoo, so many people you have to be aware of the traffic and tourists. Quite a few restaurants and ladies, shops to die for. All price ranges and a few of mine are The Sock Shop and Coastal Creations. I have been living in the are for 1 year and haven't see all of them. Perfect place for a vacation or...
