Unfortunately, my experience was far from what Iāve come to expect from Second Best, which I normally enjoy.
The evening started with a long but understandable wait in line, considering how busy it was(about 20 mins). After placing my order, the first issue occurred when the pint I ordered ran out, and I had to switch it, which again, wasnāt a major problem (about 5 additional mins)
The real issue happened afterward when I ordered a pitcher of beer, only for it to run out halfway. The waitress informed me that the keg needed to be swapped and that it wouldnāt take long. I paid for my order with a credit card and planned to tip in cash after receiving my full order. However, after waiting for quite some time and noticing that the person who took my order was avoiding eye contact with me, I asked another waitress for assistance.
I was shocked when I overheard the waitress/bartender who had originally taken my order say, āHe didnāt leave any tip, he can wait,ā when the other staff member inquired about my order and if the keg had been swapped yet. This attitude was completely unprofessional and unnecessary, especially given that I had every intention of tipping in cash after receiving or full food and drink order. While the second waitress did fill the pitcher, the interaction with the original server left a sour impression on my entire experience.
I am disappointed that my visit was tainted by such an attitude, especially over an assumption about tipping. Iāve always appreciated the atmosphere and service at Second Best, but this experience has made me reconsider returning. I kindly ask that you address this incident with your staff to ensure that others do not experience the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur group of friends in our mid-late 20s took a pedal trolley in Detroit. Our first stop was this poor managed establishment.
The rude female bartender checked 10 out of the 11 IDs with no issue. Then she checked the last friend, who is 27, in our party by flashing a flashlight for 1 second. She ran around to the other side of the bar and came back saying, āThis is a fake ID and you all need to leave.ā Our friend asked for the ID back since it was a Real ID and they wouldnāt give it back and told us to leave.
After wasting 10 minutes arguing we got the manager involved who didnāt know how to de-escalate the situation. We were told if we wanted it back then call the cops.
We had our friend come back later to ask for his ID back again and they mentioned they didnāt have it. After the cops were called they magically found the ID and it was confirmed it was real. No apology from any part of the staff or management after they wasted a few hours of our night over a real ID.
I wouldnāt recommend this establishment to anyone due to poor management, horrible customer service from the female bartender and both employees lack of understanding when checking valid IDs. If the owner ever sees this review I would recommend better training since past reviews mention this isnāt the first instance of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe love this bar. It is absolutely fantastic! We always come here before or after when we have reservations across the street at their sister restaurant, Grey Ghost.
It has the feel of a dive bar but not dive bar food even though it is served in plastic baskets. And they make cocktails as well...not just drinks...cocktails! Like a Smoked Old Fashioned or Smoked Margareta or Rock & Rye made with Rye whiskey and house made Rock & Rye soda.
The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is a must try, and be sure to get it with a side of potato wedges. Their Jamacian short rib beef pies with curry sauce melt in your mouth and are so rich and delicious.
They recently had chicken wings as a special, and they were some of the best wings we have ever had. They need to add them to their regular menu.
Bottom line...don't hesitate if you are thinking of checking them out everything is delicious.
Keep in mind that it can get crowded here before and after events at Little...
