We spent one week at this hotel at the end of June. It is fine for families, especially for those going to the parks. The hotel shows signs of post covid struggles. The rooms need to be brightened and needs new couches and tables. Having a kitchen is fantastic and it was great to have a full sized refrigerator. There were definite struggles that had me question what I was paying for. Housekeeping is every 3 days. If you want anything, they keep counting how many days you have been there before you get help. Even to get new towels was a struggle and it made me feel like I was asking for too much. Once I asked a housekeeper in the halls as no one came to bring our towels after a few hours, and the housekeeper gave me a giant sigh like it was somebody's else's problem. Breakfast was very sparse. I knew this coming in that it would be just the basics, but this was seriously just the basics and super low quality. I don't understand and nobody could give me an explanation why I could not take a bagel or some cereal back to my room for my kids who were sleeping. We have a full kitchen in the room with a toaster, we are paying for the hotel, why can't I take my son a bagel? I completely understand if you saw me carrying a tray of food that would serve 20 people back to my room, but otherwise it shouldn't be an issue. Laundry services were extremely expensive. $6 to do a load of laundry. You can only use tokens that you have to have single dollar bills to exchange for. You can't use quarters nor is it connected to a card swiper. If you are going to charge people so much to do a load of laundry, at least install a credit card machine to use instead of people searching for dollars. Beware that the pull out sofa is extremely uncomfortable. I know most are not great, but this is a super thin mattress (almost as thin as a mattress pad) and all you feel are coils. We had to drive to Walmart to buy a foam mattress topper and extra blankets as the blankets the hotel provides are gross. They feel like sandpaper and super cheap. We dropped over $100 just for us to sleep on the sleeper sofa. Finally, beware that as this hotel is geared for families going to Disney, you will find the rooms overflowing with people, kids shouting and running down the halls and doors slamming at all hours of the night. The hotel front desk staff were friendly, but they definitely show signs of post covid fatigue. Not enough help and people were doing the...
Read moreStay elsewhere. This hotel is very poorly staffed and maintained. When you arrive, it is likely there will be no one at the front desk. They will casually stroll out when they feel like it after ringing the bell and then do the bare minimum to get you get checked in or tend to requests. This hotel beats them all for worst ever breakfast and we travel weekly to lots of different hotels and condos. Breakfast was the worst ever of all places we have ever stayed that offered free breakfast. Cereal, but no milk! No fruit at all! Little disks they call eggs that are so rubbery they can't possibly be real eggs, or even decent quality fake eggs. Sausage looked very dried out, no bacon or other source of protein. No toast. Coffee cups are only the tiniest styrofoam ones that carry about 4-6 ounces, of course with no lids. And on top of it all, they grill you like you are a criminal when you try to go to breakfast. They would not let me in until I finally got the front desk to prove to them I was a paid guest. My name was right there in in front of her on the list, but they apparently can't read English. Not the brightest staff, for sure.
The gym has NO functional equipment! Not a single piece works! The treadmill has an error code and won't turn on. Other equipment is taped up and not even able to plug in.
Rooms are functional, but not very clean and are quite dated. Our room had to be set to 66 degrees just to make it cool to roughly 72-74 and we had to keep the door open to the bedroom for decent air flow to get that cooler air in.
Our room also smells like the non-functional gym downstairs, like dirty socks, not fun to sleep in. Lots of big stains in the carpet and very heavy chairs that don't have proper pads on the feet and are ripping the carpet. While location is convenient, a much better choice for similar condo-style units is the Sonesta ES Suites LBV right around the corner. Unlike Hawthorn, they are improving their property and have fantastic breakfast choices, even though not free.
Also, our beds had no top sheets! Just a fitted sheet, then heavy comforter and a top fabric to protect the comforter. No sheets! Weird!
While this place can be ok, there are MUCH better options for same or cheaper pricing very close by....
