I was highly disappointed in our stay. We are normally huge and I mean huge fans of Sonesta. This is our go to hotel every time we travel to Orlando which is quite often. Back when COVID happen we had an air issue when we stayed and we let the front desk know but it was fine just an air issue they mentioned it was due to COVID, we had go back ever since and always had good experiences with them. We have even brought our best friends with us to introduce them to the hotel along with some of our co workers. This time was the exception, upon arriving to our room at 11:00pm from driving roughly 3 1/2 hours to get here after work we were exhausted and just wanted to eat and sleep to wake up the next day for the parks. In our room was a dirty wet towel left in the shower, the room was filthy and wasn’t even cleaned properly. We explained this to Vanessa at the front desk who was on night shift and she quickly explained how full the hotel was and there was nothing they could do. I explained I wanted someone to clean the room as we no longer felt safe or felt that it was clean. She explained again the hotel was full and there was nothing to be done except possibly have the foreman on site to clean the bathroom. I explained I guess I would have to take it since “there was nothing she could do”. A little later we received a call from her stating the foreman would be up to provide us keys for another room as they had a “cancellation”. So, great now it’s almost 2am and still we haven’t slept. We moved rooms only to now have a toilet issue and have to put water in the toilet each time it needed to flush. Probably a quick fix but by this time I’m annoyed, tired and just wanting to sleep as we had a long day tomorrow and didn’t want to have to deal with front desk attitude. Upon our checkout on Tuesday, I spoke to Tyler the front desk manager I explained the situation to him and told him how I felt. I expected more than just let me take off $40 off your bill for the resort fees and well there isn’t much to do. Seems like all was done here that could be done. I explained to Tyler we didn’t get any sleep due to the Room issue the first night and it was nonchalant like it didn’t matter to him. I explained to him I guess I need to rethink where I recommended people and where I choose to stay from now on. I am honestly very displeased with the service and how the room was left, I understand we humans and probably understaffed, but I expected more sympathy and concerns from the staff working and not just we can’t do anything else. But, If your okay with all that, the rooms are comfortable especially if your looking to share with family. It gives you the apartment/hotel feel. I was displeased with the...
Read moreThe location here is perfect. It’s right across the road from Icon Park. The hotel is over 30 years old but it’s well-maintained and it has been renovated. The units are big. Bed is good. Shower pressure is good. There’s a bath tub and a walk in closet. There’s a full size kitchen with a pot and a pan and cutlery and coffeemaker. If you need tea, coffee, cream, salt and kitchen accessories just ask the front desk. Front desk people are the most pleasant and friendly. They change towels once every 3 days and do housekeeping once a week, very appropriate. There’s a laundry room where you can wash and dry for $3 each. Reasonable as well. Detergent is $2. You should enrol in their Reward Program as you can get some spending money on snack. Never get their Hersey ice cream. They must have been previously defrosted and it’s gross. If you book through Expedia or other agencies you are out of luck as you won’t get your rewards. We stayed 10 days this time and I was to book for December and April so we will be qualified for free breakfast. Since they don’t give me the days via Expedia booking so I’ll probably book holiday inn next door (I’m in their program too) in December and April. Sonesta, sorry or I’d have book here again. One good gesture is they give you 2 coupons for Starbucks coffee to use. There’s an in-house car rental SixT and I think it’s convenient for a lot of visitors. Staying in this location you don’t really need a car for the whole week. You can go to Walmart for $8 Uber ride one way and get all your drinks and grocery for your stay. The fridge is big. Ants Ants Ants. The place looks really clean but there are lots of tiny ants in the bathroom sink and on the night table. No ants in the kitchen though. I bought a spray to spray the kitchen, night tables, and bathroom vanity several times a day. The ants still return to the bathroom sink (through the drain) and the night table. (I never put food on the night table or the bathroom sink). I won’t put my phone on the night table ! The swimming pool is nice. There are lots of loungers and tables, some in the sun and some under the shades. There are enough for everybody. You will like the setting. There’s a game room too but I never went inside to check it out. The lobby is big and there are computers you can use. There are tables with charging station if you want to use your phone there. Very quiet and comfy there. The free wifi is ok, good for work VPN but it gets disconnected quite often. If you are from out of country you might want to put your phone in airplane mode so it won’t flip to your personal data plan if wifi gets disconnected. Overall this is a very good hotel to stay on...
Read moreWe had a lovely week staying at Sonesta on International Drive. It’s a modern apartment that had 2 rooms, one king and two doubles both with en-suite, plus a living room /kitchen /diner. Cutlery / plates etc all provided. A safe was in main bedroom. There was a small breakfast/coffee bar open until 11am and a convenient small shop for things like water/soft drinks/ chocolate open 24hrs (plenty of Walgreens and a larger Walmart a short drive away for actual groceries) There is a self service Laundry which all in with powder, wash and dry was about $9 and took credit cards to operate. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful all the time. At one point our freezer started making very loud noises. We mentioned on our way out to dinner one evening and by time we came back a few hour later it was fixed.
This is not a full blown hotel so only get replacement towels once about 4 days into our week’s stay and rubbish/trash collected at same time but you can go and take own rubbish out. Coffee/tea wasn’t refreshed but I’m sure we could have asked for some and they would have provided. They do offer this service more regularly but is an additional $30 each time.
We were out most of the time so didn’t use pool but facilities looked good with plenty of seating.
No mention of transportation to parks and never saw any or anyone waiting for it, but we used Uber at $7 to universal which was cheaper than parking. Didn’t do Disney so don’t know cost for that
If I was to be picky the attention to detail with cleaning on arrival was poor in the fact that some things thick with dust like alarm clock and phone but rest of areas fine and had been well managed. The lifts are very slow and if I was stay there again (which I’d be happy to do) I’d ask for a room away from them as they are quite noisy. It’s a real pity that no evening bar available as after long days it would have been good to just relax with a drink without having to go out. Having said that it is located in the heart of International Drive with plenty of restaurants and entertainment a short walk away and an I-trolley stop...
