Teriyaki One Japanese Grill (Teriyaki & Sushi) — Restaurant in East Rutherford

Located in the Rutherford Commons off of Route 17 North in East Rutherford, I discovered this establishment while visiting a nearby restaurant. Teriyaki One is a "new and hot restaurant that opened about a month ago if you want something simple and quick to eat for lunch. Upon entering this clean place with the blaring music, it’s very similar to Sarku Japan in terms of food selection and preparation, except they also have a poke bowl. My order was the chicken bento box served with chicken teriyaki over white rice, garden salad, 3 pieces of fried meat dumplings, and 2 pieces of fried veggie spring rolls. The food was filling, as the portion sizes were more than generous, delicious, and fresh. However, the dressing on the salad was a bit bland and watery and could have used a bit more ginger dressing. DO NOT get their spicy salmon rolls. they have this super weird texture, very stringy which it shouldn’t be and unusually chewy and they have crunchy flakes inside of the salmon that adds on to this grotesqueness. i am not a picky eater at all, i have a very open palette and sushi is my favorite, especially spicy salmon and have enjoyed even low quality American grocery store sushi many times before from Whole Foods, Shop and Stop, etc. however this thing was just diabolical. i tried to be open minded about it and ate most of it, but that was a mistake as i have to work from home today because my stomach pain is unbearable and i keep throwing up. i’m sure their other foods taste great, the service and atmosphere were really nice but i did not get the best first impression with their...

Really satisfied with our visit to Teriyaki One in East Rutherford! The service at the counter was friendly and helpful, and the ordering process was quick and easy. After ordering, you move over to the food prep area where you can see everything being freshly made — which is always a good sign.

We ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Special (with noodles and no vegetables), Shrimp Teriyaki with steamed rice and vegetables, Angry Dragon Roll, The One Roll, and a can of soda. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and nicely prepared.
