We stayed in 16A over the holiday weekend for the second year in a row. The space is perfect for our girls weekend with a large table where we can play games and lots of beds to suite everyones needs. The view is priceless and we got blessed with many deer sightings as well. There is plenty of space for a group to relax, hang together, cook and sleep. We will definitely rent this unit again even with some of the issues noted below. as they were not deal breakers for out group but things we hope get addressed. That being said things could be improved to make this a perfect stay.||||Pros- Overall clean (bathroom, kitchen, beds all seemed clean and no complaints)||The paving of the road to the cabin was blessing as there would be no mud hole that we had previously. ||||Loved the electronic door with code, super easy and something we are used to.||||View is beautiful from this unit. If you had an even larger group you could rent 16 B and the door between the units (inside) opened so everyone could be together. ||||Close to town (5-8 minutes) and shopping for pretty much you may need is literally at the bottom of the hill across the street. ||||Coffee and hot chocolate provided is a treat. ||||Cons/needs some more love- The fireplace did not work. When I reached out for service I did not get any response that they received the concern so I called and they had not sent anyone over yet. We were out all day and yet we had to deal with maintenance person while we were there. Who knows how late stye would have come had I not called. ||||Dishwasher did not work at all, previous complaints noted this and yet not replaced. We had to cook in due to Covid for all meals and it was a huge inconvenience to have to do dishes by hand for every meal for a large group. Very disappointed this was not repaired since it was brought to their attention many months earlier (other reviews)||||We took off our shoes when entering unit and found that the rug near the door was bare and the tack strips were exposed and hurt when you stepped on them. ||||Lighting in unit- several lights out and not replaced, lighting overall is poor and could be updated to make it brighter by the table. I would suggest adding some additional lighting in that area.||||The fan in the ceiling has clearly not been cleaned for some time and had you turned on the fans it would have showered you in dust bunnies. Pretty tough to look at. ||||The futon beds are highly uncomfortable to sit on and to sleep on. The one nearest the kitchen is broken and was broken the year before as well and never replaced or fixed along with. being very creaky when you make any movement at all while being slept on. They could really be updated. Sitting on this same one is hard and you can barely get out of. ||||Minor things: Broken kitchen utensils, Plastic wine glasses misshaped in dishwasher and not usable and yet remain on the shelves, had to go to another property to order movies, order form was generic and did not match items in the unit we were in, No condiments so bring your own. Knives are vey dull and hard to cut anything. We did not have enough sheets for the 2 futons on the first night (ordered more and they were delivered), no scrub pad and very rough dish rags until we ordered more and since we had to do dishes by hand this was an issue. Rug is very stained and curtains are thread bare in areas.||||We will consider this unit again in the future due to the perfect space and location for our group and hope some of these things can...
Read moreI strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for rental property in Estes Park. I will not be returning to any of the Rocky Mountain Resorts properties and would not recommend anyone else to.
Three years ago this was an excellent company to rent from. Prices were reasonable, places were clean, staff were helpful, and I had absolutely no complaints about my stays several times a year. This year dropped my 5 star rating to 1 star.
Prices have gone up significantly, despite the aging properties and static amenities. You must ensure that staff knows when how long you intend to stay. Verify the information twice at a minimum. Twice this year I stayed with this company, once in the spring and once in the fall. The during the spring stay, I was disappointed that prices had dramatically increased and was not impressed with the cleanliness of the room or the the attitude of the staff. I assumed this had been a one time experience and walked it off given the record I had with this company previously.
During the fall stay I was just as disappointed and upset by my stay overall. The icing on the cake for this stay was being informed on my second to last day booked that it was check out day. I had confirmed at check in that I would be staying four nights, which the clerk acknowledged. After the third night, I was informed that I had to leave while sitting in the hot tub on the deck around 1pm. Check out time is meant to be 10am, but that would make too much sense to call earlier when I hadn't dropped off the keys. I ignored a call from an unknown number at 12:30pm, which was the front desk calling from a personal cell phone. My girlfriend and I had to quickly pack up the entire cabin as we were informed that there was another renter coming at 3:00pm. To add to this, as I walked down the steps of the rickety deck carrying a suitcase, the first step broke, causing me to slip the the next one and the next one in turn, which both also broke, causing me to fall face first into the gravel. I was not materially injured, but the incident added to the dismay of the afternoon. In addition, I informed the clerk at the front desk at I checked out through gritted teeth that the steps were broken and I had fallen through them. Nothing. No "wow, are you alright" or "I am so sorry, I dont know why that would have happened". Not so much as a glimmer of an apology. The clerk simply said "we will inform maintenance" and...
Read moreUnfortunately our experience here this time was bad. Rocky Mountain Resorts Quality has gone WAY down. Price has gone UP, yet check in is 4PM and check out is 10 AM. Number 15 was the one we stayed at. Upon walking in, the cabin stunk and the floor was extremely dirty. There were nasty smudges all over the fridge, white stuff on the floor and all over the microwave and oven. Did the housekeepers even clean this place? For 100$ cleaning fee you would think so, but i guess all the “cleaning” they do is changing bed sheets and putting out clean towels. After looking at the hot tub there are two broken speakers that have been ripped out, with wires exposed and rust all inside the hole!!! The rust had dripped into the water. There was litteraly a used bandaid sitting right outside the hot tub! After looking under the deck there is so much trash, empty bags of chips, energy drinks scattered all under the hot tub deck. We were scared this would attract wild animals. The insane part to me is there is a note on the table, asking if id like to leave a tip to the housekeepers? Are you kidding me? Thats like spitting in my food and asking for a tip! The couch was super uncomfortable, hard, all leather and had a huge rip on the back, its sad because I remember coming to this cabin years ago and it was amazing, the couch was super plush, but im not sure why they would replace it. The pictures are also very old. Online the hot tub is completley surrounded, whereas now there is a side completely cut out and open. How hard is it to take a new pictures and upload it? WORST OF ALL, check out is at 10 AM, On the morning of our checkout, at 9:50 AM we had housekeepers waiting right outside of the cabin staring and pressuring us to leave the entire time, we have never had an experience like this, where you are being pushed out so quickly. Made our packing and leaving extremely stressful. Its weird why they were trying to rush us so much, even though nobody had booked a stay for the next three days. Our stay was okay besides these though. Great mountain view and great location. I think the owners need to hire new housekeepers because they aren’t doing very good. We've had great experiences with Rocky Mountain Resorts and other Lazy R Cabins, but will definitely not come back to this specific cabin. Stay...
