We planned a last minute trip to Estes Park and couldn't find a place to board our 2 small dogs. We decided to book at Mountain Shadows, and called them up and spoke with Amber. We were booked to stay cottage 1 and were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. We recieved a designated parking spot right next to the cabin. Pictures on the website looked exactly like they did in person. The room was really clean and super cozy. There was a working fire place as well as an AC window unit. We really enjoyed the hot tub and double shower heads in the bathroom. There is a small kitchen with fridge, microwave and sink. The location was so convenient and within minutes of awesome restaraunts, gas and 2 grocery stores. Most importantly-Amber was AMAZING! So friendly, welcoming and accommodating. She seriously made us feel like we were family. She was always just a phone call/text away. She provided doggy poop bags and sheets for the furniture so the dogs could get on them. I sprained my ankle while hiking and my husband called Amber up and she was there in 2 minutes with ice, medicine and an extra pillow to keep my ankle elevated. I would book again just for the hospitality and generosity that she showed. We will definitely be back and would 100% recommend Mountain Shadows to all of...
Read moreThe wife and I, along with our dog, choose this place at the last minute, and came away from the weekend experience without regrets. From the beautiful mountain town of Estes Park to the quiet locale of Shadow Mountain Resort, there was nothing for us to complain about on this weekend getaway. We stayed in the Enchanted Cottage room for 2 nights. On entering the place we were greeted with a clean space that was decorated with care. It's cozy, but roomy enough to fit the two us for a quiet weekend. We enjoyed the quiet, cool mornings out on the small porch to our cabin. At night we sat in the indoor, private, hot tub to relax and unwind our weary bodies from a day of site seeing and strolls around the lake that is in town. Being towards the end of March, there isn't much to do as many locations are operating on winter hours. But we didn't mind. We wanted a quiet, relaxing weekend and Shadow Mountain Resort gave us just what we needed. As for our dog, she loved being with us to see and smell all that quiet mountain living has to offer. The owners and the cabin are very pet friendly, so this factored into our choosing of this place. And if you're into wild life, we saw plenty such as elk, mule deer and...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for 4 days and 5 nights. The owners are fantastic, welcoming people who quickly took care of a surprise plumbing issue the night we checked in (not their fault at all, stuff happens sometimes!).
The location is great, just up the road from downtown Estes. Close enough to get to things, but far enough away to be out of town a bit. You are not in the middle of nowhere, though. Think of it like the "suburbs" to a city, not the country.
There are a total of 8 cabins on the property and others were occupied while we were there. We saw their cars and people coming and going a few times, but there was no noise to speak of.
The kitchenette is nice, it gave us the opportunity to buy some groceries so we didn't have to eat out every meal. The bed was comfortable. There isn't a table and chairs area inside, however, to eat or play games.
The significant downside, unfortunately, is the hot tub. The chlorine smell lingered, no matter how much we opened the windows and turned on the fan. For someone who is sensitive to smells like me, it was a bother. I could get used to it, but then it would hit me when we left and came back later.
Four stars reflects the...
