If you are under 6', 200lbs and just got out of prison you are in for a real treat. The School Marm house (#3) features soaring 6.5-7' ceilings, 2 sq ft of counter space in the kitchen and tens of sq ft of open floor space.||||Just kidding, if you just got out of prison you probably couldn't afford the nearly $200 nightly fee. This cabin was so small it would have fit into our bedroom and the kitchen would fit in our shower. We knew it was small when we booked but it was the only place we could find that allowed dogs but wasn't attached to any other units (in case they barked) They also want you to put your dog in a cage when you're not there but good luck finding a place to put it. The futon mattress looked and felt like they picked it up for free on the side of the road. The bedroom is so small that the bed is pushed up against two walls - have fun climbing over each. The mattress did bring us closer together...physically, and by that I mean it sagged in the middle. The staff were friendly, at least, including the guy we had to call at 9pm b/c our heat didn't work (they hadn't lit the pilot light - it was Oct)||||I know Estes Park is an expensive town and running a successful vacation rental is not an easy task but there was absolutely nothing special about the cabin or location considering what they charge...no hiking trails nearby, no view (you're in the middle of a residential neighborhood), no amenities (besides cheap coffee and microwave popcorn), no discounts at local businesses, nada.||||Perhaps we were so unimpressed because we're from Durango, have been to Estes before and just being in the mountains wasn't enough to make our first real vacation in 12 years a good one. BTW, we ate at 4 different restaurants and all the food could have come out of a college cafeteria. If you are looking for night life or legal weed then EP is not the town for you. RMNP is, of course, amazing and The Stanley Hotel is a cool historical site even if you don't...
Read moreFour of us spent four nights in this extended three-bedroom cabin (Cabin 1). Clean, no odors, rooms as advertised. Location was highly convenient since we spent each day hiking--literally five minute drive to RMNP entrance and grocery store was within walking distance. We used the grill and hot tub every day; both worked perfectly although hot tub was too hot at the unadjustable 104. We enjoyed the patio and the extensive wildlife (elk often quite close) presence. Kitchen was well stocked--we ate all our meals here without problems--good-sized refrigerator, great stove, lots of dishes and utensils. Good-sized diningroom table although a squeeze to use. The fireplace was on when we arrived and appeared to work properly; it was too warm for us to use it.||I gave a four-star rating as, unfortunately, there are lots of "little things" wrong. Notably, the pleasant screened-in porch was unusable because of lots of detached screening, allowing bugs to get in easily. This also left the "lean-to" bedroom quite poorly ventilated since it was needed for air flow. Miniblinds were shoddy and with broken pieces (living room light bled into lean-to bedroom), entrance mat was insufficient given dirt and gravel driveway. Ran out of TP as only two rolls provided (yes, I know people steal TP, but only two rolls, really?). Cabin is immediately on a main street with lots of traffic; noise was not a dealbreaker for us but could be. With four adults there was just enough room as it is not a big place to "live" in.||Check-in was easy and management communicated clearly and very effectively. Parking area was large.||Would we stay here again? Probably, although I would look around at the competition again. Just wish management would spend the small amount of money and time to fix the minor things that are annoying and...
Read moreMy review is for Triple R Cottages Cabin #4.
My boyfriend and I visited Triple R Cottages during Estes Park's late winter snow storm and had an awesome experience. Upon arrival, we checked in at Lazy R Cottages (responsible for Triple R) and were warmly greeted by a lady at the front desk. We received our keys for the cabin, and were also presented with a variety of movies, board games, coffees, snacks, and hot chocolates to choose from (free of charge). We opted out of initially gathering any additional items, and headed to our cabin. Our cabin was clean upon arrival, warm, and cozy. There were clean dishes and cookware available in the cabinets as well as a coffee maker, mini-fridge, and microwave. Additionally, there was coffee, hot chocolate, and additional hygiene items already placed in the room for us. The bed was extremely comfortable, and there was also a variety of portable fans and heaters in case the room got too cold or hot. The shower was hot, and there were chairs and swings right outside our little cabin so we could enjoy the sunshine and snow (once it melted a bit!). There was plenty of wildlife passing through the area, which I really enjoyed. Lastly, the cabins/cottages are only about 2 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park, so that was a huge plus. We were beyond impressed with our cabin and the staff at Lazy R, and plan on booking with them for our...
