My husband and I have stayed here in the past and were happy with it but our last visit was quite disappointing at the very least. I had called to book reservations for our 4th wedding anniversary and told the lady I wanted a cabin. When we arrived for our stay they advised we were staying in a room that was attached to the hotel, we've never stayed in a room there. We like the privacy of the cabin that's basically the whole reason we book here. Hence the name Log CABIN inn... so we let them know this was not what we wanted and they say they are all booked up but then a few minutes later say one of their cabins was available and gave us they key to it. So we go inside and bring all of our bags into the room and were happy with the accommodation until they call us and say they made an error and the cabin is actually already booked... at this point we are extremely annoyed. The place seemed so disorganized like no one had a clue what was going on. I tried to find other places to book but it was too late at that point.. it was a Friday evening and everywhere was full so we had no choice but to settle for the room that was extremely small and had sticky stuff all over the floors. They promised they would make it right with us and later that evening told us they thought they had a reservation that was cancelling and would let us know but we never heard anything else of it. They did nothing to make it right and honestly didn't seem to care. Sadly they lost our business and this is somewhere we visit annually but after this last visit we will find somewhere that can book the room you request since that's a pretty easy task. Thanks for a disappointing stay for our anniversary.
In response to the owner.. nothing I said was untrue at all. We knew there was nothing available Saturday from the beginning when told we could have the nicer ROOM Friday night. We obviously appreciated your company trying to make an effort to make it right and that's mainly why we were satisfied with the different room. Our issue was being told we were getting the nicer room for Friday night and then moving all of our bags into it then getting a call shortly after that the room was actually booked and we would have to go back to our original room. So I don't know why you are assuming i meant both nights as i never said that. Also, the new manager even came up to us when we were by the fireplace that evening (Friday) saying he thought a customer would be cancelling and would let us know but we never heard anything else of it and that's what I'm referring to. I never mentioned anything about Saturday night so i don't appreciate you calling me a liar when you clearly don't know the facts. I find it pretty tactless that you chose to comment instead of taking the time to get ahold of me or my husband on the matter, you obviously weren't there and are just getting information second hand. We are not the type of people who try to get free handouts but when we are told you are going to try to make it right and then you do nothing I don't feel you were sincerely sorry, heck its been a couple of weeks since we stayed and no one reached out to us about the matter and that's why i felt the need to leave my review. I hope others take the time to read these comments and see the type of...
Read moreMy almost stay was horrible! It started out good. Quiet place, easy check-in. The rest is down hill! I was bit several times by bugs in the bed. Found them in the second bed, and called the front office. An employee came to look couldn’t find them, I wouldn’t show him bites because, there were several on my backside. I was mad and was yelling, “there are bugs!” because he said he couldn’t find bugs and I couldn’t show him bites. He said he was calling the police. I had already called my family to pick me up.
I did not want to be in the room because I have heard horror stories of bugs from hotels. The young man kept insisting I show them and they were tiny bugs that looked like dirt specs that moved so, they were not easily identified. He called someone and I assumed it was the police since he said that was who he was calling. Ended up, it was the owner who said the same about no seeable evidence and then gaslighted me about the room being a room leading to the outside and bugs could come in but, they weren’t the bad kind. He said he would refund my stay without me asking. I left my extra blanket and pillow because I was afraid of taking bugs home.
My family checked out of their room at a different hotel and insisted we drive 3.5 hours home at 11:00 PM. At about 11:30 the owner called and said he would not be refunding our money and that he would be charging me for the key (I kept it in haste to get the heck out). This was because he said I left a low review on google and then when I told him I did not he said it was a friend of mine.
I am attaching pics of some of the bites..
I WOULD NOT recommend this place. Poor customer service, poor complaint resolution, and the owner refused a legitimate refund that he had offered until someone that knew of the situation posted a bad review. Avoid the hassle, and the bugs, go someplace else.
Update: The owner claims defamation of character for him yet says I brought bugs in his establishment. There is no defamation, I told the manager I could not show him pictures because of the location and they were next to impossible for me to take pictures myself, most were on my butt and back of legs which I could not get pictures of. I had my husband take them in the hotel we stopped at in Joplin, which was great. My reviews are not vindictive, look through them. I mostly post positive reviews. When I have a legitimate problem I post. Yelling and crying are two things that happen when you are under stress. My son was still at the wedding we came for when I called, my husband was in another hotel with my other son and I had no vehicle to leave. Add in the fact that I am told the police are being called, I think crying is pretty natural. Bring on your law suit. I drank nothing that night and came back to read a book and relax. That was not possible in this environment. I would have sent this owner pictures instead of posting if he hadn’t been rude and...
Read moreMy first impression was the clerk at the desk at check in. He was ready for me as soon as I walked in, very polite, and quick. I always appreciate a seamless check in, especially after driving all day so l was pleased with the experience. I usually choose 4 star hotels but l've come to realize the only things I really care about when I stay in a hotel are cleanliness, comfort, and air conditioning. The air was COLD, the beds were comfortable, the TVs are from this decade, and the rooms were cleaned well. Bonus points for how quiet it was. I slept like a baby without breaking the bank. The property is located within walking distance of downtown (though with the climb back up that hill, I recommend driving or taking the trolley), near a few convenience stores, and a grocery store. The area is quiet enough to enjoy sitting outside or with your room door open. The fire pit, grill, gazebo, and water fall are nice touches that allow guests to spend the evening winding down outside without having to fold up a tent at the end of the trip. I would love to stay during the fall when it's cool enough to enjoy sitting outside by a fire. There is a ton of parking in the back, which is also where the ice and vending machines are located. Everything is easily accessible without any fuss.
If you're looking for peace and quiet in a central location, rustic charm, cold air conditioning, and a clean room at a surprisingly affordable price, this is a...
