Not sure where to post about the crazy high taxes imposed in this city so here it goes on a page where someone might be able to offer some assistance to save your little town. The town has so much potential but seems to be dying out. Everywhere you look there is a business for sale. We stayed at the Best Western Eureka which was a nice place, however the taxes on top of the room rates were ridiculous! We ended up checking out two days earlier than scheduled simply because of those taxes. Not to forget the tax on liquor is outrageous as well! We visited an absolutely lovely little brewery (Eureka Springs Brewery). The New Delhi restaurant (which was honestly not our favorite) and the Mud Cafe (great food but slightly pricey as well) were also on our list of stops. I asked why it was cancelled,& he had no answer & didn't seem concerned about it. Someone needs to tell him tourists are NOT an interruption to his day, WE ARE THE REASON HE HAS A JOB!! Despite having a reservation and the paperwork showing it for the brownstone inn the manager cancelled it after we showed up. The Thai house had the worse Thai food I have ever tasted. This is a strange place full of suspicious people. Sorry o ever heard of it....
