I was invited to stop in the Stone Soup Cafe the two days I was visiting a family member and I was not expecting the excellence and comfort I felt! I expected dark dreary and depressing as is being hungry and most times homeless for most. I expected an angry atmosphere and discomfort. I was wrong. It wasn’t all fake cheer either…but it was welcoming and comfortable and the food was top quality and taste! Everyone moved about smoothly and respectfully mostly, the people sat and ate and greeted each other and were allowed to eat in a bright clean setting. All those partaking in breakfast and sack lunches left fed and given another chance to make it through the day and try to assemble their lives. I finally, after many years of looking, found the place I feel I can tithe and the money and or food, or time I spend is completely worth it! It all is when you help people who need help, but we all find the place we want to devote our time and what money we can to. Thank you to the volunteers at Stone Soup and the cooks and all who make it happen there! Thank you to all who donate to the Breadline...
Read moreThis place helps a lot of people everyday monday thru friday no matter what! Even if there is a holiday that falls on that monday thru friday, they are open! Very awesome people that take time to help others! They provide a hot breakfast and lunch for later, clothes, shower, etc .....my number 1 place here in the interior of AK that truly helps those in need! Thank u Stone...
