Went with a party of three and had a good time.
The atmosphere is clean and attractive with authentic Thai decor (as far as I know). The wait staff was friendly but seemed disorganized, possibly in part from the lunch rush, and in part from a language barrier; for instance: when I asked for the status of desert I received a to go box. It was delivered with a smile though, and desert arrived shortly afterwards.
I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken as well as the thai iced coffee, and coconut ice cream / fried banana for desert.
Portions were very generous for the price, by Fairbanks standards.
The Pad Thai was excellent. The noodles and egg were cooked just right and everything was well coated in a flavorful peanut sauce, the dish also had a lot of oil which made it very rich but not overly greasy. I would have liked more chicken, but I prefer things heavier on the protein.
The Coconut ice cream and fried banana was a real treat. The ice cream could have been better served by a strong vanilla or much stronger coconut flavor, but it was still very creamy and rich. The fried banana had a crunchy sweet breading, and the banana itself dissolved on the tongue. Three scoops of ice cream, and two good sized bananas made it a great desert to split.
Finally, the Thai Iced Coffee was pretty good. Imagine a regular iced coffee with a lot more milk and a little sweet ginger flavor. I also got a chance to try the Chicken Fried Rice, and it was just as good as the Pad Thai.
Overall it was a great experience, will...
Read moreI really don’t understand how come this restaurant has a such great eating here! First, the staff was standoffish, leaving my group of six people unattended for a long time. We didn’t get seated or water for a long time, and the fountain drinks here don’t have free refills. Second, one of the dishes given to us had oil stains. Third, the food taste here is still mediocre and value is poor while its pricing is almost catching up the Thai restraints in NYC. All meat served was dry and hard to chew and swallow. I am very curious how they made the meat so dry in a soup with noodles or in their Yellow Curry. I would love to know the secret! Overall, I think the only reason this restaurant is still standing is because it doesn’t have any competition in this little town. Seeing countless tourists from my country getting ripped off here makes me sad. FYI: I think the restaurant has some sort of corporation with some Chinese touring companies that keep sending Chinese tourists to this restaurant, which probably makes people who aren’t familiar with Asian food think this is a good Asian food restaurant while it...
Read moreWe are horrified by our experience when we found hairs in our curry. And when we addressed this to the server she didn't even utter a word of apology instead she said "It happens sometimes." I dislike writing negative online reviews, but this restaurant lacks customer service and their food is way overpriced ($20 for a curry without rice). It made it even worse when this horrible incident happen. I asked to speak to the owner and she can't be bothered according to the waitress. For the record we made a reservation to celebrate our 10th Year Anniversary and they gave us a tiny table next to the entrance/exit where everyone coming in and leaving are bumping into us. Whether you're visiting Fairbanks or a resident from here, avoid this place by all means. There are other Thai and Asian restaurants in the area that will treat you nicely and wouldn't put hairs in their overpriced food like this restaurant. The restroom here is unsanitary too so imagine the food your eating. I took a couple of pictures and you'll see it...
