Golden Heart Plaza — Attraction in Fairbanks

Its winter full of snow but in construction season aka spring/summer its beautiful as on the river. Many events happen throughout the season such as vendors, summer solstice June 21st, Golden days in July, Wednesday evenings concerts from local bands or orchestras. Has beautiful fountain honoring sled dog breed which actually a friend of mine they used her dogs as her family bred them. I live 2-3 blocks from and its beautiful in summer with the flowers and river across from Doyon area and Immaculate Conception Church which is over 100 yrs old..much to explore this area in...

It was interesting to see the statues and clock/carillon (lovely) and learn more about Fairbanks' history. There were a number of people loitering around the space, which made me feel uncomfortable. One man approached us from behind, and when I turned toward him, he spun around and quickly walked away. It is perhaps my own biases that made me feel not entirely safe, but I was glad not to be there alone. I also would not take a guest back there with me, which is sad when clearly so much work and resources went...

Another downtown must visit! This plaza is the place to view the river, explore the history and even to visit the log cabin that currently is the home for Yukon Quest sled dog 1000mi. race. It is the endpoint of the Rubber Ducky race at Goldendays festival. Venders use the plaza for many events thru out the year. The statue of the Alaskan Family in the center is surrounded by placks of interesting historical tidbits and important time line events and the people who started and kept Fairbanks...
