I travel a lot for work and always stay at IHG properties by choice. But this hotel alone may make me decide otherwise if I ever travel to Fargo for work. Let’s start with check in. I requested 2 adjoining rooms when I called to book. I said I would not book if they could not guarantee this as we are a family of 6- and with 2 little ones we wanted to keep everyone together. They said it would not be a problem. It was, in fact a problem. Upon arrival my husband went into, and the older lady at the counter was in no hurry to make helping the line of people a priority. It took at least 15 minutes to check in. Got our 2 room keys and we were given rooms across the hall from each other. This would have been fine if we didn’t have 2 little kids under 2 that could walk back and forth between rooms. I went to the front desk without even opening the rooms because this was not acceptable. The same lady then turned it into a big deal and took her time to get me rooms that were together. The rooms we got to were clean and comfortable. My problem here- was the bathroom fans with sensors. You can call me picky, but I for one don’t like to listen to a jet engine everytime I open the bathroom door. I found out while showering that it got louder if you were in there for more than a few minutes. With the adjoining rooms we had 1 glass shower door and the other room had a tub. The tubs were old and horribly stained. I find shower curtains to be highly unsanitary at hotels. You tell me how often an actual shower curtain is cleaned. I bet rarely.
After a terrible night sleep from the noise, we took the kids to breakfast. Kids don’t notice things adults do. The panacake machine was out of order. The coffee machine was out of order. The bagels and rolls and bread were so hard they weren’t edible. So cold cereal it was.
This property needs much TLC- and it’s not an old property. Very disappointed and definitely not...
Read moreLet me preface this review with stating the hotel is a very clean and comfortable place to stay, as well as very convenient in terms of placement within the city. However, I was instantly disappointed with my attempt at booking rooms for a celebration of life. To be honest, I wouldn't have booked here if it wasn't the closest hotel to my parents place.
I attempted 3 times in a 2 week span to get in contact with the hotel manager to book a block of rooms in which they were never available and never returned the messages I left. Luckily we ended up needing only a few rooms so the fact that I couldn't get in touch to block rooms became void.
After blocking the needed set of rooms it was brought to light that a few individuals wanted to extend their stay and needed two beds instead of the one I had booked. I called to make the changes at least 2 weeks before our guests were to arrive. It seemed like the individual understood and made the changes needed.
Being in the field in my younger years I understand things can get mixed up so I called a few days prior to the arrangement to ensure all changes were in place only to find out NOTHING had been updated as I had discussed with the staff member. After speaking with the staff on 6 different occasions within a 2 week period (3 of which were on the same day - 2 days before guests were arriving), the rooms were finally updated accordingly under the quoted price (yep this was an issue to complete too!). The final issue and straw for my patience was having to argue with the staff at 1am as my cousin was checking in so that we could get all of the rooms near each other!
I hope some additional training comes of this so no one has to go through the same experience. Customer service is just as important as...
Read moreMy eighty-three year old mother and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Fargo I-94 in Fargo, North Dakota on two separate occasions, once on Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 and once on Monday, May 22nd, 2017. When making our reservations online, we requested an accessible room on the top floor, away from any noise, and each time we were given a room on a high floor away from the elevator facing the parking lot. We were also recognized as Gold Elite members on our second visit and were given a welcome bonus.
The medium-sized non-smoking room included two queen-sized beds, each with four pillows on them (two soft and two firm), a roll-out desk with an office chair, a comfy chair, a large HD television and remote with lots of channels, free WiFi, a mini-fridge and a coffeemaker. The closet contained plenty of hangers, an iron and ironing board, and a motion-sensing light. The room had individual climate control which could be accessed from a wall unit. The lamps in the room gave off plenty of light, so you were not sitting in the dark at night like some other hotel rooms we have stayed at.
The medium-sized bathroom had plenty of room to move around in, and included three sets of towels, a hairdryer in a bag, bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, as well as two bars of soap. The shower had a handle, but it was on the outside, which made it difficult to use when in the shower, especially for my mother.
While the room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, I was still a bit disappointed over the accessible bathroom. I realize that this hotel also has rooms with roll-in showers, but my mother does not like them as she prefers a tub/shower combo. Because of this, we would not stay at this...
