Our stay started out good but ended as a nightmare. We checked in on Thursday October 22 as my dad had an emergency heart surgery and the weekday staff was great and friendly. First impression of hotel and room seemed clean and spacious. But after the first night we found something decaying in the safe in the closet after following an odor that kept offending us. The second night the door continued and we found a rotten and moldy half eaten apple under the dresser. Then the weekend staff started and WOW it went from bad to horrible! I went to get my breakfast on Saturday and the front desk person was very irritated and rude. He explained the other person coming in would get me the food (breakfast is at 7, it was 7:30) so I asked how late it would be. He sighed and said I will get it I guess. Then the other front desk person, Coco, came in, apparently late, while I waited and the two of them got into an argument. I grabbed my breakfast and left as it made me uncomfortable. Then we found out we needed to stay an extra night as my dad had to stay longer in the hospital so Coco took care of it but apparently didn't update housekeeping. So housekeeping knocked on the door and very rudely asked if we are going to leave soon. We told them we were staying, to which she snapped at us, stating we cannot just choose stay without asking and said we needed to let them know at the front desk. We explained that we had on three occasions talked to the front desk worker about extending our stay. Then she just walked away seeming very irritated with us. We are staying this last night and looking for a different hotel for the rest of our stay. Being here for the reason we were was stressful enough, but the weekend staff pushed us over the edge. I would not recommend this hotel, only gave two stars because of my first impression but it truly deserves just one star...
Read moreThe front receptionist who was African American was extremely rude and acted as if I was bothering her. I am African so this is not a “race thing “. She did not welcome me to the hotel, offer up any polite conversation or make me feel welcome in any way. She talked while I was filling out my form so I didn’t catch half of what she said. When I asked her if my extra day had been added her curt reply was “Well if you mean your check out is on Friday starting today then that’s what I have on file.” When I asked her what my wifi password was she said “Ma’am, it’s ‘guest’ just like it says on your card. Well I didn’t have my readers on and I missed the smaller handwriting. I asked her “where!” And she snapped “Right there on your card!” To give you context, I used to travel for work and this was actually my 200th stay in 12 years. Needless to say I have been in many hotels!!! She stands out as the absolute rudest ever! My motto is that if you don’t like any aspect of your job, either improve on your attitude, since you are choosing to be there or find something that you absolutely love to do and go do that! Her impression left a poor taste in my mouth and it was night and day compared to the rest of the staff I met during the rest of my stay. My room was clean but the cleaners were extremely loud in the morning and I had already had a bad experience so this didn’t help. Needless to say, there are plenty of comparable hotels in the area and for future Fargo trips I will be staying with them. I believe it is management’s responsibility to check worker attitudes. I will note this lady was infinitely more polite to the next guest who happened to be white while I was treated like a poor inconveniencing relative. Sad to drag my own but even sadder to reverse discriminate or whatever that was. Simply put,she was just...
Read moreWe have stayed here many times before and have never had any issues. But now I think The place is just needing a bit of a face lift, maybe some policy changes? The pool and hot tub were not available when we were there which was disappointing since we were there for a weekend get away and want some hot tub time, I wish I would have known prior to walking in the building so I could have made other arrangements. Someone has also crushed all the sconces on the 2nd floor, might be worth replacing to just make things look kept up. Housekeeping staff was amazing as always! And this is one of the few hotels where housekeeping comes everyday, which I appreciate. Front desk staff could use some improvement, at check in I gave my name and then I wasn’t actually sure if the worker was checking me in or doing something else, so I stood there awkwardly until she put a piece of paper in the counter for me to sign. Strangely she didn’t do anything on the computer the reservation was in a hard copy folder which I have not noticed at past stays. Then she told me the room is all the way down at the other end of the building and that was it? I didn’t interact with them any more for the weekend but it seems like the front desk is the employee hang out place which is odd for the older employees they staff at the front desk and for maintenance and possibly sales? Idk who all was roaming around back there at any given moment. This place is good if you are just coming in for a night and leaving right away, but choose somewhere else if you plan on a hotel stay longer than...
