Stayed for 3 nights/4 days recently. Please note that — outside of breakfast — they are not around for much of the time (that's their business model), but will generally answer a phone call immediately. I arrived around 7 pm and they left out my check-in information in an envelope in the breakfast room sideboard. It was a bit difficult finding my room (they don't call it the "Hideaway Room" for nothing) and when I eventually got there, it was fully unlocked. Not only that, I couldn't lock it after I went inside. After calling the main number, they talked me through it. The room was charming and there was a kitchenette that was great. it had a microwave, sink, fridge/freezer, which is great for an extended stay (though the cutlery drawer was a hodgepodge of mis-matched utensils that included one long spoon and no forks). Since it's an older place, there are a lot of extension cords and plugins around the place. You will be crawling on the floor under the desk to plug in your laptop. And there were three locks on the door, but it honestly didn't feel that secure. You could easily push in the old french doors, if you wanted to.
Now the breakfasts are absolutely wonderful and the staff is very friendly. That said, i didn't have any internet or TV service for most of the time (the last evening for a few hours, I had access), so I had to go out into the lovely lounge if I wanted any wifi/ internet service to get some work done. They did kindly offer me an upstairs room, but having to move all of my stuff around didn't really appeal to me. They truly tried their best, I think, though I'd recommend they put a booster in this room (and not rely on the booster in the room next door).
While charming, there were some things that seemed outdated: • Lots of cracked grout in the bathroom sink and bath. • Very hard mattress. I have a firm mattress at my home and it was even harder. • Takes forever for water faucet to distribute hot water (lots of wasted water) • 1-ply toilet paper (half a roll) that ran out quickly. No spare, so I had to leave a note for mgmt to drop some off. • They kindly said they would adjust my bill since I didn't have access to internet/wifi, but my bill did not reflect it. I didn't even get a check-out bill or notified of my final amount, they said they'd email it. That's when I saw there was no adjustment. I emailed them back immediately asking about it, but haven't heard back 4 days later. • Unclear parking spaces. Not really marked, so people parked willy nilly. Maybe add some lines? Signs? It's great they have charging stations for those who have Teslas. • Recycling. There weren't separate recycling bins in the rooms, so I took out my recyclables to the main bin outside.
While this is a lovely place, it's definitely showing its age. You get great ambiance and local flavor, but very limited service. It's really quiet here and you don't hear much from other rooms. The common areas (den/living room) are lovely and welcoming and wonderfully decorated with local treasures. I am a bit disappointed they've not gotten back to me about adjusting the bill, but I really appreciated the charm of the place and the people. Hence the 3-star average rating. Would I stay there again? Perhaps. They say they're under new management, so perhaps they'll go on to do...
Read moreThere is so much potential for this quaint inn. Unfortunately I have to leave a negative review in hopes that it will help improve guest service. My husband and I booked a one week stay at Casa Blanca Inn in Farmington NM over the Christmas Holiday. We drove from Dallas (13 hour trip) and arrived late around 10:30PM. Upon arrival we discovered an unlit parking area on the street with very little room to park our vehicle.
The staff had a late check-in envelope ready for us so we made our way to the Courtyard Room in hopes of having a restful night following our travels. We entered the room and discovered a significant amount of dust and debris on the headboard, floor surrounding the bed. There was also a and lampshades. I understand that these details can be missed but with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in mind these obvious cleanliness shortcoming caused us to seriously doubt the actual health and safety precautions that are being taken for guests.
We tried to overlook this issue and decided to shower for the night. Following a less than satisfactory shower experience I pulled back the sheets on the bed and discovered a stain we believed to be blood droplets. Then, a white crusty stain was discovered on the next layer of blankets. Unacceptable.
Upon this finding at 11:17PM I called the number listed for after hours service. No answer. I left a detailed voicemail and asked for a remedy. I called again a few minutes later, still no answer. I then sent an email with photos attached and requested assistance. We decided to book another room elsewhere, packed up and left.
I received a call back at 7:30AM during which I did not receive a single apology. I was asked to repeat our issues and was met with a dismissive tone as if our expectations were too high.
Another staff member called around 10:00AM, again no apology, same dismissive tone. They let me know that they are the only two staff members and they do all the cleaning themselves and are “only human”. I was told the best they could do was a $300 refund for our nearly $1000 total charge due to their cancellation policy needing 10 days notice. This is not a typical cancellation, rather a dissatisfaction with the regard for hospitality standards of cleanliness, security and comfort. I was told if we get the owner involved they could not guarantee a refund of any amount. Eventually the staff agreed to a 50% refund. I still find this to be unacceptable resolution for a room we never slept in.
I wish we had been met with a sincere apology and genuine care for our...
Read more10 stars out of 5! I can't say enough good things about Casa Blanca Inn. It's my favorite place I've ever stayed, and restored my faith that there can be affordable quality places to stay in the U.S. A 5 star hotel experience at a 2 star price. I got a personalized text message with check in instructions, a check-in packet with all the info I would need for my stay, and I could check-in any time. They even try to accommodate late check-out upon request. Becky and Russel were so kind and genuine, they really make you feel like family even if you're there for 1 night. They are great spirits with great stories to share. The space is just beyond gorgeous, with endless details and decorative touches. All the furniture is antique wood with the most beautiful ornate carving, the lamps and flower pots are hand-made pottery, the stairs have decorative tiling in New Mexican style, there's a library, dining room, and living room which are all so cozy and artistically stunning. The courtyard and breakfast room are dripping with charm. I even had my own small outdoor space with a little more privacy if I'd wanted. There's also a large backyard with beautiful flowering trees and Wisteria. The room was very very clean and also had beautiful art and decorations, and the in-room kitchen was much more sophisticated than I'd expected! It's definitely well-equipped for longer stays, and they are so sweet they even put coffee beans waiting in the fridge for you and there's a grinder in the room for fresh morning coffee. I've never seen such thoughtfulness! The breakfast menu changes every day and everything is made with love from Becky's family recipes. I wish I had stayed a week and next time I will definitely...
