TL;DR - I was the guy with a dirty room, weak A/C, and bloody sheets that got stiffed on perks his company has negotiated with Marriott
Ok, I seriously am not usually that hardcore of a customer and it takes a good deal for me to get to the point where I say I really will not return to this location. I know from experience it is not Courtyard Marriott's ; it is just this one.
Pros: Location is great by the Riverwalk, Berg Park, and city's old style downtown, Reception area, breakfast, bar, and lounge are all nicely remodeled and have that southwestern feel, food I did get was good
Cons: Uhh, many! Rooms are pretty outdated, it is closer to a Motel 6 than Marriott style and comfort wise, didn't get a fridge which other 3 times I've been here I had, room had a smell to it..., A/C was weak, oh and the blood on a colleagues' sheets not to mention my own, only got housekeeping once out of 5 nights stayed so I used a towel to cover those blood stains
Hotel has potential. It really does. Food I did get once for breakfast was good, I like the location, and if remodeled some it could be great. I acknowledge I may have got a bad roll of the dice here but I will never return and will recommend against it to my colleagues at work who travel to Farmington.
Off the bat, I was not given the breakfast coupons that normally accompany a stay at Marriott hotels per agreement between my company and this chain in a corporate "preferred hotel" type deal. All my other colleagues got them, just not me.
My room did not have a refrigerator; prior times I have stayed here I always have had one. When staying for a week, having a refrigerator is pretty important. Important enough where I would pick a different hotel. I can only eat out so much so not having any fridge at all to be able to buy groceries is a bummer. I requested one, twice, and was told I could get one but never received one.
I was working late shift for my company while on travel this week which is in the realm of 3:30 PM - 2:30 AM. Because of this I never got my room turned over but once on the first day, despite making this known and asking the front desk about arranging a different time for housekeeping. Most of the housekeeping happened around 9 - 10 AM, which is standard, but I truly know this as this was during my prime sleep hours and the rooms are not very good at keeping noise out so hall vacuuming, etc. was all quite audible. I wore earplugs eventually.
On the first day at work, my colleague mentioned "hypothetically, what would you do about blood on your sheets?" they were clearly laundered, but had blood stains. The first night I had not checked mine but just went right to bed as it was late but after this comment of his I checked and mine did too! Not just like one, like many, in many places. Since it multiple of us, I imagine it was not isolated to just us. Worries me about other customers that may have had this. Pair this with never getting your room turned over and yep that's blood stained sheets all week. Again, I did voice this but nothing was done about it either. Luckily, on day 3 my colleagues' room finally got turned over and with a note left asking for new sheets got them, had to go the note route as prior he had layed them out to show the blood stains thinking that housekeeping would get them but nah, just made them right back into the bed.
There was a big baseball tournament in town which I am sure kept the staff busy but some of these issues are just not ok to overlook. I won't be back.
So you might have a good stay here but please, do yourself a favor and check for blood on...
Read moreIf I could give them a zero, I would. I will begin by stating my room had the smell of old carpet, drenched in river water. After complaining to the front desk receptionist, they were quick to waive the check in fee and state the hotel is going through renovations and the floor we were staying on was not exactly Marriott standards. The heat outside in Farmington, NM was 106 and we were attending a wedding ceremony that was taking place outside the hotel. The hotel did not have their AC on and we received different reasons for the AC being off—it’s not working, we forgot to put it on, the remodeling is affecting the AC. It was hotter inside the hotel than outside with 106 degree weather. Once the ceremony was over, we moved into the hotel’s dinning area which was even hotter then the hotels front entrance. There was over 100 guests inside the room and everyone was drenched with sweat. The inside thermostat was reading 97 degrees and the hotel made no efforts to reasonably accommodate the guests to ease the excessive discomfort and potential health risks. The hotel continued to charge guests high rates for water (3.00 a 16oz bottle) and even higher for other drinks. It was not until 10pm when they finally decided to do something about all the complaints; they brought out 2 fans and iced water. To end the night of grotesque sweating a cold shower should have been more than enough to soothe the discomfort, but as the shock factor kept surprising us, we found no cold water in the showers or sinks. We had to pull military style showers just to scrub the extra layer of stickiness all while playing hop scotch with the scolding hot water. We had hoped the cold water would be available in the morning as we were exhausted from the extreme heat and wedding events. Of course, much to our dismay there was no cold water to brush our teeth; luckily we were able to use our mouthwash to rinse out the toothpaste. I hope every guest leaves a review, as this has been the worst hotel stay in all my years...
Read moreWe checked into the Courtyard on Friday afternoon the staff was very friendly. We were given room 215 we unpacked and went to visit family. We returned to the Hotel around 10 PM and couldn’t get the keys to work. We went to the desk and were given new keys. When we opened the door the light was off and we had left it on. Then we saw our snack basket sitting on our ice chest in the entry, we had left it on the microwave. As we entered the room the bed pillows were thrown all over the bed and my iPad which was left between the pillows at the head of the bed was on the coffee table. My muscle relaxers were missing from the snack basket. I went to the desk had to ring the bell as the receptionist was at the bar visiting. I explained there was a problem and our room had been gone through. She asked my room number then tells me I am in the wrong room that my room is 214. I then returned to my room retrieved the key and envelope which was marked #215. She wanted us to move rooms I explained that was not convenient as we were unpacked and my husband has his C Pap all set up. She then tells me All she can do is comp the room and have me speak to the manager in the morning. We then found the tv didn’t work. A not too clean man who reeked of cigarettes came to the room and got it working. Needless to say we were not feeling very comfortable about the situation. The next morning We we’re to the desk and asked to speak to the manager. Melanie came out we explained the situation. She looked in the computer and found the girl from the night before had done nothing to even report the incident. She then took approximately 10 minutes to offer us a second comp night. We were never offered to have the police called . We have stayed at the Courtyard many times and never had any problems. This is a problem that needs to be...
