The hotel was beautiful, set in a beautiful city. We checked in, everyone was friendly. We were looking forward to the oatmeal cookies that we saw on their website upon arrival. Unfortunately, we weren’t offered any. We were asked if we wanted housekeeping. We declined since we were only staying for 2 nights. But we did ask for towels and garbage removal, which we never received. Luckily there were enough towels in the room for 2 nights. The garbage did overflow at one point, but we took some of it out. I know we could have called housekeeping but it was after hours. There is no microwave in the room, the coffee maker was a cappuccino machine. Which is great for people that drink cappuccino. But we are just regular coffee drinkers. They did have a bar and a restaurant in the hotel. I wouldn’t really call it so much of a restaurant but more of like snacks, drinks and some breakfast items to choose from and lunch. So I did have to go back down to the lobby to get just regular coffee for us. We did order toast, a croissant, and the next day we did have truffle fries, and a turkey club sandwich. The food was good. It wasn’t a five star, but it was good after a long day of sightseeing. It was nice. And they were nice enough to bring it to the room. I did have a vanilla latte that they made me, and it was nice! The closet in the room, however, was very small. The room did have a lot of shelves to put your things on. But there were no dresser drawers so you could put your clothes in once you arrived. It’s a good thing we had a room with two queen beds because we used one of the beds as a dresser drawer. And we had all of our clothes laid out there. It felt like they really didn’t want you to stay long. The vanity in the bathroom was very small. But the shower was nice, it had great pressure and the water got hot really quick. We did like that there were no curtains in the room, but they had blinds. One blind would blackout the light, which was great at night time, and then there was another blind that you could put up to Let the sunshine in. The windows did open which was great to let that fresh mountain air in. The flat screen tv was very big. Bigger than what you normally see in hotels. The only thing was there was no guide, we had to write down the channel number and whether it was lifetime network, or one of the local TV channels. You do get HBO and HBO MAX. The remote was a Roku so there were no numbers on the remote. You had to push the arrow up or down to get to your channel. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were a little too firm for me. But I always take my own pillow when we travel. Check in and out was easy but we really didn’t like the $10 daily parking fee. Everyone that worked there was very polite and friendly. But we decided the cons outweighed the pros and we won’t be staying at any Voco...
Read moreRecently remodeled, so very nice rooms. The shower pressure is TO DIE for. That made me so happy. Small hotel but they have a cute little bar in the small lobby area (it's a very nicely designed little lobby actually). The bar food and drink is very reasonably priced, which was great.
If I could recommend anything (I'm procrastinating from work so hear me out) it would be: different bedside lamps that don't shine in your face like you are being interrogated, lol. That's a big one. Also, some people might like to be able to -- get this -- reduce the shower pressure (yes, it's that good). And finally, I would put paper menus in all the rooms. I knew the bar was open from 5-10, but I wasn't sure if there was food. I think folks would be much more likely to order room service if they had the menu in front of them.
Yes, the unexpected daily $10 parking fee feels a little weird. A little sneaky. But I know why it's done. Hotels all over Flagstaff seem to be charging that fee. And it doesn't have to legally be included in "all taxes and fees". So if you're that hotel that doesn't charge the fee, well that's enough of a price differential that you WILL lose customers to other hotels that appear to be $10/night cheaper because they are doing the sneaky parking fee. So it sucks, but I can understand the need to do it to keep the price competitive. It just feels icky when you're not...
Read moreWhat can I say - it's a cheaply renovated hotel. Im trying to give IHG a try...but they've fallen short - & here's another example of why...
Pros: cost is mid-range, they offer good 'member points'. At this location- friendly staff. Bedding is nice, lots of pillows per bed and good quality. Two cookies upon check-in.
Cons: $10/day for self parking?? Lot is not great -& it's not like this spot is in Denver or Chicago or something... Room smells terrible - like fresh paint! The odor was so strong, we had to air out our room. Gave me a headache. Shower was like a tsunami hitting you! Noise - from hallway and the highway. No real perks - no laundry, pool, gym...and the restaurant- it's like a tiny bar, so false advertising there.
We checked in and the front desk proceeded to call at 12:15am! Said there were some guys making noise...we were all asleep! Second call from front desk at 12:35am! This time - because they checked us in under a wrong name or something...they wanted us to come down to the front desk at 12:40am - give me a break! One elevator...back Bldg. rooms = stairs (not a big deal for us, but could be an issue for some folks).
Disappointed and skipping this...
