I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Mediterranean restaurant and I must say that the Spicy Penne and Hummus was an absolute delight!
From the very first bite, I was blown away by the combination of flavors and textures. The penne pasta was perfectly cooked al dente, and the spicy tomato sauce was bursting with flavor. The addition of the crushed red pepper flakes added a nice kick to the dish, making it a spicy lover's dream. The dish was not only delicious but also well-balanced, with the perfect amount of heat and acidity.
The hummus was also a standout. The creamy, smooth texture of the chickpea spread was complemented beautifully by the tangy, garlicky flavor. It was the perfect accompaniment to the spicy pasta and provided a cool and refreshing contrast to the heat.
The presentation of the dish was also top-notch, with the pasta and hummus placed side-by-side on a beautiful plate, garnished with fresh herbs and a drizzle of olive oil.
The service at the restaurant was impeccable, with friendly staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations. The ambiance was also lovely, with soft lighting and comfortable seating.
Overall, I highly recommend the Spicy Penne and Hummus at this Mediterranean restaurant. It was a truly delicious and memorable dining experience that I would happily repeat.
I must also add that our server, Brody, was exceptional. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and had a warm and welcoming demeanor that made our dining experience even better. He provided excellent recommendations, made sure our drinks were always refilled, and checked in on us at just the right moments without being intrusive. Brody's attention to detail and dedication to providing great service truly made our meal even more enjoyable. If you visit this Mediterranean restaurant, be sure to request Brody as your server. His professionalism and personable nature make him an excellent asset to...
Read moreMay 4,2024 UPDATE BELOW: Used to be our go-to place. We ate there about twice a week. Now, the prices are higher, and the portions are smaller. They have eliminated nearly all the items we liked, and now they nickle/dime you with a "5% surcharge." Plenty of other restaurants in Flagstaff. Update August 4, 2023: We used to go to Taverna quite often but stopped after a combination of removing items we liked, smaller portions, and a petty “surcharge.” Last Saturday, July 29th, we decided to give Taverna another chance. The hostess took us to our seats. For the next ten minutes, wait staff would walk by and not make any eye contact. One waitress was two feet away from us talking with the people at the adjacent table. She neither acknowledged us nor gave us menus. After more time went by with many wait staff walking by and ignoring us, we finally decided that we had entered another dimension and had become invisible. We left. UPDATE May 4,2024... After our "invisible" visit, we stayed away from Taverna until January of this year. We decided to try it once more. Food and service were good, and once again Taverna became a place for family gatherings. We went there tonight, and when the bill came, there was an 8% surcharge added to everything. The manager's explanation made no sense when asked why not increase prices 8% instead of nickle and diming customers. To make matters worse, the 8% surcharge is on the back side of the menu in VERY small print. I bet 99% of customers won't realize there is a charge until the bill comes. (Tip, tax and surcharge add close to 40% to the price of your meal). We have spent $1,698 at Taverna in the first four months of this year, but they won't get...
Read moreThis was our second visit to taverna. We had a party of 14! They have a great table for such a large party, we had our own space to enjoy dinner together. We had appetizers and entree's. Getting refills took longer than expected. When they brought the drinks and appetizers they didn't know who ordered what - so lack of service training. We asked for more pita bread which took way long to get so when it arrived we had already used some bread from the kids meals - which they also didn't know who ordered what. The kids meals probably had more meat on it than the regular entrees. If I were to go back I would order the kids meal, even at the entree price. When they brought the entrees out they again did not know who ordered what so it was kind of a mess to get the right items to the right people.
The appetizers were good the entrees were not that good. I ordered a gyro sandwich, I felt that the meat was dry and cold. I needed a little more dressing for the salad, but because we still hadn't gotten our ketchup for the french fries yet, I didn't even ask.
The building itself looks amazing the atmosphere is awesome. But the steps of service and the quality of food we're not the best.
A manager for the restaurant did reach out to me in response to this review. He expressed concern and wanted a return visit to try to make it better. I like that they have a process in place to personally contact people who give reviews. Tells me they do want to try and make it the best experience possible, and learn from the...
