Easily the WORST of all Over Easy locations... and we've been to almost all of them. Not to mention the special surprise fees at the end of the meal.
The food: Horrible, no other way to describe it.
Biscuits and Gravy - Biscuits were hard as a rock and gravy had chunks of possibly burnt or dried up gravy. Requested new Biscuits that were edible as well as new gravy to top them... server took the plate and brought back the same quality of hockey pucks.
Banana Nut French Toast - Myself and my youngest daughter ordered it. Both received burnt and dried out toast. Hardly any of their caramel syrup on either plate. I explained that the bread was burnt and dried out... the server didn't seem to care. Asked if they could at least bring us out some more of the topping syrup, instead they brought a sticky mess of a cheap fake corn syrup bottle and slapped it down on the table.
Breakfast Burrito - Pieces of raw bacon inside. No joke, barely cooked and mostly raw. I didn't believe it until...
Sides of Bacon - Arrived about 10 minutes after the rest of the food. They were floppy, slimy and nearly raw. Temperature to the touch was not that of freshly cooked bacon. Had to flag down the server and show her. She wasn't shocked, but instead responded with a "So you wanted crispy bacon?" No... I wanted regular bacon, just cooked... the bacon they brought back 10 minutes later was burnt to a crisp.
Drinks - Orange Juice Mimosa... you wouldn't think you could screw it up, but the flagstaff Over Easy certainly tried. Hardly a detectable splash of champagne, with a high pulp o.j. and floating oddities in the mix. The Brunch mule, mainly a watery splash of O.J. with no detectable ginger beer and maybe a half shot of vodka (if that).
The icing on the cake was the SURPRISE 5% SURCHARGE, without explanation. When asked, the server explained that it was due to increasing food prices. I explained that it was against the law for them not to disclose an add-on percentage and would not be paying it. The manager came over and gave us an entirely different explanation... it was in-fact due to the increases of wages specifically for the food service workers in Flagstaff. Funny... these were some of the worst servers of any Over Easy we've ever been to, and we are regulars that are well-known by the other locations. Why should the laziest and most careless servers get the higher wages?? Or maybe... this is the problem? Give them what they used to make and let them earn the $20-$30 tips per table while running 4-6 tables per hour.
Overall, what a horrible experience. If this were our first time at an Over Easy. I would never return to another location. My wife and children received their food 10 minutes before I did. Had it been edible, they would've been done eating before I ever...
Read moreWe ate here a couple months ago and had a wonderful meal with a great server experience. She was very attentive, quick to refill coffee and a great attitude. We were excited to visit there again today.
What a difference from our first visit. Food was still great. The service experienced was disappointing. Not sure why, but the happy vibe we felt on our first visit was not there. The greater was cold. She sat us near the door where we could see her in action. At one point she was tasked with placing silverware on the tables. Perhaps we did something to make her mad as she walked up to our table, noticeably slammed the rolled silverware on the table and walked on. No words were exchanged. My wife and I actually were startled and made a joke about it. No biggie. Service overall was slow and the restaurant was only moderately busy. We placed our order and the kitchen team were quick to prepare the food. My entree was delivered and we waited for my wife's entree to arrive. We watched numerous plates stack up in the window while our server was busy talking to the hostess. After more than 5 minutes I decided to help the process and went the back counter to request my wife's food to take it to the table so we could eat. After being coached about how the server is the person who will bring the food out, the person behind the counter finally was convinced to retrieve the waiting plates from the window so I could complete the service. At that point the plates were stacked up in the kitchen window but there was no indication of urgency. Not sure where the server was at that point to be honest. I am sure a review of the cameras will give leadership a picture of what we experienced, if that is something that is important to know.
I kid you not, within 1 minute of my return to the table, our server came by for her table touch asking how everything was tasting. When I told her we were just about to start eating as I had to go get the food myself she turned pale and stumble with an apology. She had no clue what had happened. It was both sad and disappointing. We never saw her for coffee or water refills after that, or to check on us until she came for payment. My wife even commented that she seemed to be trying to avoid us. We ate quickly and left. Again the food was great. No issue there. Mistakes happen, but there was no effort made to show sincere care or concern. I expected better.
We watched the server and the hostess chatting again on the patio as we departed. Not impressive. There are some great breakfast restaurants in Flagstaff. We will make a different...
Read moreThe food was fine. I ordered the chicken and waffle, protein bowl, iced coffee and a shot of juice. Protein bowl was extremely oily with a pool of oil at the bottom of the container and had little to no quinoa in it. Chicken was tasty but the waffle was very soft.
The service was terrible. I received a text that my order is ready and I showed up 5 minutes later. The hostess says she can't find my order so I waited. She came back with my order but the two drinks were missing. When I told her that I had ordered two drinks as well and it's missing. She seemed surprised so I showed her my receipt.
She then went to ask a waitress for help and they went to make my iced coffee. The waitress showing her how to do it started making the air quote sign and pointing at me from behind the bar counter across the restaurant. It felt very unwarranted and unprofessional.
Finally I got my whole order and left. When I got to the car, I noticed I finished my water and have a 1.5 hour drive next. So I went back with my empty bottles to ask for a water refill. The hostess again said she needed to check with someone and went to ask the same waitress. They refused to refill my water.
I crossed the street to the sushi restaurant to get my water refilled by the nice staff there.
Horrible service, management should be consistent in the training of new staff to prevent order errors and have better...
