As a native person to have come from the Eastern United States Coast, I have endorsed in a substantial amount of New York-style slices in these past 17 years of my modest life and since moving in December of 2010, have come to this respective establishment made out to be reminiscent of an east coast style pizzeria a countless number of times, but decided that it would be a perpetual idea to review this fine establishment briefly in a blunt manner.
I ordered the singular Sausage Slice and Garlic Knots that were both good and filling, the use of spices and the type of sausage utilized on the slice, which could be enough to feed 2 persons with moderate appetites further was made better with the presentation of the food in particular; while it may be reflective of the median New York Pizza Place that many a person may have gone to in some capacity; as a Northeast Native, it just seemed as-if the pizza looked appealing.
In addition to such, the cultural atmosphere of the respective establishment was reminiscent of a New York-style pizzeria from the early 1990s, featuring a distinct and yet sparse diversity of arcade games, checkerboard floor tiles throughout the pizza establishment, and in addition to such, a painting on the wall near most the order counter featuring a diversity of actors and significantly historic figures from the late 20th Century that adds much adorned character to this pizzeria, they also possessed a jukebox loaded with songs from the Marshall Tucker Band, No Doubt, Billy Joel, The Beatles, Def Leppard and numerous other artists that impact American and British Counterculture over the course of the final 50 years of the 20th Century and even the 21st Century.
The primary reason as to why this respective review is disclosed as a 3 out of 5 contrary to a 5 out of 5 is because of two glaring issues that I noticed while I was consuming dinner here over the past 10 months, with those two respective issues being that the central jukebox was too low in volume, and could only be heard from seating in the upper-level and as one approached the ordering counter, and the other issue bring the lighting: In the restaurant, the interior felt as-if it was dark, noticeably more prevalent when I went in November of 2023, the lack of present lighting on the lower-level of the single floor building has no proper central lighting system, thus making it seem as-if we are consuming our nutrients in a 18th Century Inn located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. If they could strive to install a fluorescent light panel or lamps, it would help significantly to those eating in lower-level seating.
To concede with my review, this respective pizzeria is optimal and has the charm and cultural character of an early 1990s New York pizzeria, but it has several issues that takeaway from the character of the...
Read more6-29-25 It’s REALLY hard to mess up pizza. How does that even happen? Last night was the second time that we’ve been to Pizza Casbah and it will be our last. We like to support local businesses so it’s unfortunate that this won’t be one of them. The first time we tried PC, our pizza was pretty good (7.5 out of 10) but our second visit was abysmal. I understand that quality and flavor will somewhat vary depending on the employees & their methods of food preparation but is there no standardized recipe or baking technique that everyone is trained to follow? FORTY percent of the crust on our slices was burnt to a crisp; almost half of our pizza was black and brittle & it wasn’t just on the edges. (Do employees not receive training on how to properly bake thin crust pizza to where there’s the chewiness and crisp but without charring the pie?) Additionally, there was next to no sauce and the pizza was so salty that we couldn’t even finish it. Thin crust pizza isn’t meant to be slathered in sauce but there absolutely needs to be a layer of it that covers the pie. Rather than a consistent layer of marinara, our pizza had thin, random swipes of sauce which resulted in the pizza being extra dry. The absence of it also caused the pizza to be extra salty because there wasn’t the sweetness or acidity to offset the saltiness of the our chosen toppings and the cheese. Between the absence of sauce, the pizza being charred, and how salty it was, I would rank our food as 2 out of 10, which is quite a difference from our first visit. In this economy & being on a strict budget, it’s a special treat to go out to dinner. When the quality of food of a restaurant is inconsistent, one doesn’t want to roll the dice and gamble on whether or not the food you order will be edible. I don’t like confrontation so I didn’t ask for a refund or for our food to be remade. I also know it’s never a good idea to offend the cook when ordering from an establishment; I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and I’m well aware of what happens when you do. It’s just better to take your business elsewhere. In the future, we will visit other businesses when we have a pizza craving. I hope the owners will offer or revisit the necessary training on how to bake a thin crust as well as how to correctly apply sauce & improve on their product. (Side note: even if unskilled, the employees were at least friendly. In terms of cleanliness, the tables were dirty and sticky. The bathroom was...
Read moreI ordered from them last night at 6pm. Was told it would be a hour to a hour and a half max for delivery. I agreed and ordered a pizza, garlic knots, and zapollis. At 8pm I call the store and ask where my food was since it has been a half an hour past the promised max delivery time. The man I spoke to over the phone couldn't give me any detail on where my food was or when it left for delivery. He claimed it should have been there already or would be there any minute. I say ok and wait. 8:20pm another call was placed because STILL NO FOOD! This time it was my mother who called and demanded they contact the driver and find out where he was. They couldnt get ahold of him and claimed "system failed" somehow some way. The woman offered my mom the food for free and to let the driver know to call the store and she would let him know it was infact free. After getting off the phone with the store manager the food FINALLY arrived! My mother answered the door along with my SON who is 2 years old and he proceeded to say the amount due And handed my mom the food. My mom had ahold of the pizza with the 2 sides on top of the box and told him "No this food is free. Call the store she will tell you." instead of letting go of the pizza box on his side he started to play TUG A WAR with my mother while my SON was down below in the middle until the box ripped on his side sending the two sides on top flying at my son's head!!!!!! THEN HE TRIES TO COME INTO OUR HOUSE! My mother tells him "I dare you to come in my house!" and he has the nerve to snicker (laugh under his breath) at the food now on the floor and then he turns around and finally leaves!
To make matters worse! OUR FOOD WAS COMPLETELY COLD! We had to microwave the pizza slices so they were warm and the garlic knots the cheese was no longer melted and was just a big clump of cold cheese on top. (You know when cheese gets cold and it starts looking like it was never melted in the first place.) And the zapollis were cold. Nothing had ANY WARMTH to it at all!
PIZZA CASBAH IS BOMB! I've always loved their food. But their delivery sucks! And the employees are disrespectful AF!
Im soooo...
