Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs — Restaurant in Fort Collins

My boyfriend and I have been eating at this location for a few years now and never had a bad experience until last night. I’m not one to write bad reviews and if anything I understand situations when restaurants are understaffed or really busy because I too work in the food industry as well but last night we went in and we were the only ones in line and they were making one MAYBE two orders in front of us and there were at least two workers in there. We ordered two sandwiches and made them exactly the same just so there wasn’t any confusion. We got two kali mist with extra avocados and no jalapeños. when he read it back he got a little confused and said “no avocados and extra jalapeños” I kindly corrected him and said extra avocados and no jalapeños and he said ah okay. We got our order to go but when it was done, they just said my boyfriend’s name and left the sandwiches on the counter. No “have a good night” no “enjoy the food” not even a nod. They just called his name and turned his back when he walked up. My boyfriend packed the food himself and we were on our way. When we got home, it wasn’t until he started eating when we realized that they put extra jalapeños and no avocados. We were so disappointed in the food and the service. We tipped good too and the order came out to $40 for some sandwiches that we didnt even feel like eating but it was almost 12pm so it was too late to cook. Like I said, we’ve never had a bad experience up until this point and I didn’t even consider writing this review until i tried to call the store when we got home and it went straight to voicemail like they were closed but it says online that they’re open till 2am. For anyone who goes to eat here, I can’t stress this enough ALWAYS CHECK THE FOOD...

It would take me way too long to express how I feel about Cheba Hut, and im pretty sure i dont even know most of the words to describe it the way I would like. I was a cook for most of my adult life. And I happened to partake in the green goodness for a bit longer than I was a cook. Being a Montana boy, coming down here in Colorado and finding these guys, I couldn't wait to try it. But I kind of figured it to be, see, already stuck with words, like a gimmicky kind of thing. Damn there is a word. Anyways, I was shocked. The food is great. Well thought. Names are clever. KOOL AID??? Are you serious. Man, every part of this place brought me right back to my early teen years. Atmosphere is amazing! Music is great. And they seem to have right people to serve you everytime you walk through the doors If i really need a smile, and hungry, or just try and feel like a kid without anything to worry about again, except where I left my stash, then there is only one place to go, the place with the Kool Aid. Thank you Cheba Hut! Last night was perfect. I called it in togo, but couldn't leave. Me and my best friend Dilbert decided to sit outside and take it all in for a bit. Im on hospice now, and kind of find myself isolating in my apartment for very long periods of time. And it comes a time i just need a bit of relief. I am grateful for you guys more than you know. My Cheebs Dawgs! Hooking you up with a great review cuz I can't help but appreciate the way everyone treats me when i go there. It's like I'm in a room full of my own "kind of people." I do have a couple pointers on the food for constructive purposes!

My Jamaican Red tonight was so soaked in hot sauce that it's all I could taste. It was rough ! I wrapped it into foil to go because I couldn't finish it, and not even sure where I left the foil-wrapped sandwich. I also tried to order the Bong Water cocktail but ingredients were missing so I opted for the Hash Can. (My opinion , of course) Do your future customers a favor and throw that drink idea in the Trash Can! Fortunately I was saved by a tasty, perfectly poured Modelo.

Always a fun time, sorry for the "criticism sandwich" but know that it's always such a fun time when I come visit this location. Feedback is always valuable tho so I thought I'd let yall know my sandwich kinda sucked, and so did that cocktail. Could I have sent the sandwich back and they'd have been cool about it?
