If there was an option for zero stars I would definitely choose that.
My girlfriend and I used to love coming to alley cat, it would be a weekly thing and we always got the same things. It use to have a great atmosphere and the service was always phenomenal. But that started to go down the drain the past few times we had gone.
We went last night around midnight for a date night and it wasn't too busy at the time, I got my usual Gia's delight smoothie and she got her usual chai latte, then we headed to Algiers for some hookah. I had gotten about 4 sips in and was chewing the seeds and stuff when I realized that it wasn't a seed I was chewing anymore, I pulled the thing out of my mouth and realized it was a fingernail... Yes, a fingernail. I showed it to my girlfriend and she agreed that it was what j thought it was so I took it back up to them and told them about it and asked if they could make me a new one. The barista looked at me and laughed and said "you're lying there wasn't a finger nail in it" and when I explained to him that there was he got snappy and started cursing at me, which of course I cursed back because he was being very unprofessional, and then he claimed that I didn't have any proof that there was anything in my drink and argued that he was wearing a glove when he made my drink and I said that it didn't matter whether or not he was wearing a glove cuz the stuff was still in my drink and he scoffed and said "whatever just set it down and I'll make you a knew one when j get the time." by this time I was just fed up with his attitude.
Needless to say, I will not be going back and I don't recommend any one else to go there unless you want some angry teenagers that have no business working in customer service handling your food and drinks. And if you do go, notice that they never wash their hands and a few of them DONT wear gloves and handle your food/drinks with...
Read moreI've gone here multiple times. I love the staff, the atmosphere, and the location. It is the only place that was open long enough for late night study sessions. It is the only place I enjoy seeing the graffiti and it just puts it all together. Things are kinda falling apart (big hole in one of the booths and such) but it kinda adds to it i think. I drive almost 30 minutes to it with no regrets. I like the prices and how tax is already added in, I like the access to board games and the guitars. The music is a bit loud for studying. There are plenty of outlets for laptops. I like the cork board of cool events. Also there are a lot of cool customers and they are all pretty respectful and friendly. I don't like the stairs up heaving a 40 pound backpack but it's worth the trek. Food and drinks are delicious. However the parking is a little weird and usually you have a bit of a walk. It also gets pretty crowded, but people understand sharing a longer table or booth. Overall 5 star. There was one time we went in and they were making latte art for their Facebook page and everytime they finished and took a picture or messed up, they would bring it to the customers. Our group was pretty big at the time so they gave us enough for each group (couple or single) to try. It was super friendly. I usually spend about 4-5 hours there. It is definitely an experience...
Read moreSomehow this place gets 5 or 1 stars often. I agree with other reviews about the STAFF. They are pretty TERRIBLE. I wouldn't put excellent customer service in their toolbox. More of a hang out/ local college water cooler type spot. Coffee is solid, better than most places. The STAFF KILL THE VIBE of what should be more uplifting and positive. I have been coming in during early morning, although I don't expect off the wall energy from the barista, a simple good morning , friendly facial expression/ smile would be nice as apposed to most of the awkward blank stares I receive as you make the somewhat walk from front door to order counter and the barista just stares , then casually walks over after just being on the phone and sitting on the opposite counter, their after I initiate good morning, and doesn't say it back, just hello what you having today almost in a robotic monotone voice dreading the friendly tone in which I am speaking. For me getting a get your coffee and get out vibe. I don't find that acceptable. Yet other regulars are greeted with a friendly smile, good morning, and first name basis. Hmmmmm if only they treated all of their guests as friends. Perhaps they are all just socially incompetent with a misunderstanding of general people skills. Perhaps I'm crazy. Just my 2 cents, and my 1...
