This was our first time going here under the new ownership.
We always went here primarily for the sushi. I mean no disrespect to the former owners, but before, we always found the entrees to be pretty bland. We always loved their sushi and sake, so that kept us coming back.
Under the new ownership the prices have increased and their awesome deal of 3 rolls for $14 is now only noon-4pm, so that was a bummer to hear.
All of that being said, we absolutely loved everything we had tonight. Spicy Tuna Roll and French Kiss Roll were absolutely stellar. I got the Spicy Ramen because I was hesitant to get my hopes up for any other entrees, but it blew me away. So much flavor and a really big portion. My boyfriend (who is a very talented Chef) got the Udon Noodles, and he also couldn't stop saying how wonderful everything was.
Our server has been there since the prior ownership, and he is always so attentive and helpful. We appreciate him.

Read moreA lot of my reviews reflect price vs quality. I found this place by accident and was certainly delighted. The sushi is actually phenomenal being so far inland. I guess for that reason it has the right to be a little pricey. Nigiri is the sushi on the rice and they have excellent nigiri. Their rolls were also fantastic. It could be a little chilly inside but the decor is actually very cute and can transport you ever so slightly to the other side of the pond. One thing I didn't like is you cannot sit at the bar. I did get lucky however with the Spanish mackerel...blew my mind. Mackerel is usually a very fishy fish but I still enjoy it. This however was my first time trying spanish mackerel and just wow, it was buttery and had a great mouth feel. The taste was also unexpected. Even similar to other light colored fishes. Even though it's a little pricey I would certainly go back as it's not easy finding quality sushi in states that are not...
Read moreThis place is so good!!! We went a few months back when it was named Izakaya Jooa and again last night. It looks like some of the food has different names and serving presentations after the change, for example we got the ahi tuna tower the first visit and now it appears to be called ahi don and served in a bowl to mix up. Same ingredients and still super delicious. So excited to see them doing well and expanding the menu.
The food is fantastic. Both the Japanese and Korean dishes are top notch. It's also one of the only local places I can find ramune in the flavors I like! This is definitely our go-to spot for bulgogi and sushi. Hoping they will have delivery...
