Title- they need new staff before I would recommend hosting a wedding here. The venue is stunning and perfect for hosting a variety of events. The Paddock was perfect for our wedding with 80 guests.
However, the event sales team really ruined my trust and I can’t recommend anyone host anything here just because of all the stress they caused me.
From the beginning of my experience with them, their team was super nice and responsive. The second time we toured the staff member didn’t have any clue about our wedding details we had already signed a contract for. She didn’t write anything down and gave us wrong information about how our wedding could go using the space. This was super concerning and a waste of my time. It made me not trust her and stress about having our wedding there. I then met with her boss, who was apologetic, very nice and caring. She said SHE would be our person and oversee our day.
A couple months go by and for our food tasting she is present and then hands is off to another worker who is gong to help us. I have to go over all the details again with her, which wasted my time and created distrust again.
Closer to the wedding, they change were our cocktail hour is. I have to scramble to redo expensive signs I had made. They promised there were no other events going on so it seemed odd to have to move our guests last minute. About 3 weeks before the wedding I asked for an updated invoice since our guest count was smaller than anticipated. I spent way too much time correcting them on charges, sending it back to them FOUR times because they couldn’t do simple math and pay attention to detail. As a bride planning a wedding, and also moving into a new house, I had zero time to be doing their job for them. I had also asked questions about electrical power for the Paddock 3 times with no response back. Important questions I was asking were being ignored. It felt like I was the one moving the process along, asking for final menus, final table set up, when they should have been directing me.
The day before the wedding I checked into the hotel. I was expecting one of the two ladies I had been working with me to have at least reached out by phone or email a couple days before the wedding but they did not. When I checked in I asked for either of them and they told me they were not scheduled to be there that entire weekend. My people weren’t there for me. I was just floored and so stressed. They handed me off to their banquet team who I had never met. The day of the wedding was so stressful for me trying to help them setup and fix issues.
They had moved our cocktail hour right next to another event when I was assured nothing else was going on that weekend. There was also another wedding there the day before mine. So they just lied to my face about being there for me and so many details.
The banquet team did a nice job and worked really hard. I just feel like my trust is completely gone for the staff. The general manager didn’t really care much when I mentioned these issues to him.
There is a lot to stress about when planning a wedding but you have to have trust in your venue. The last 8 months of working with them I’ve been in such doubt of their abilities, I was glad my wedding worked out nicely but I would never feel comfortable recommending this venue to anyone unless they have some major staff changes. If I hadn’t been on my game and invested so much time there is no way it would have worked out like it did. It was just too stressful and time consuming for me. I had hired a day-of coordinator and that was a saving grace for me, but unless you have an event planner that will handle all of the planning so you don’t have to ever talk to the staff, find a different place.
Everyone seems nice and makes promises and then just bails. It created SO much extra work trying to micromanage everything and make sure stuff got done. It should not be like this. Plenty of other options out there where they...
Read moreI have been here for business events twice in the past six months and this Marriott has not failed me yet. First off, the rooms are quiet, comfortable and the bed is one of the best within the brand I have had. I don't have much status with Marriott so I am guessing it only gets better! My husband is a top tier with Marriott and with me being so lowly color me impressed with a comfy bed, ( to give a deep dive into that, we sleep on a Four Seasons mattress in our home, so comfortable mattresses are a plus when we travel!). Check in is always fast and friendly. This Marriott is near Alliance, (private), Airfield aka Perot Private Airport; Texas Motor Speedway and other major venues so it gets generally pretty busy. The hotel is on a beautiful golf course, as well. I have never waited more than 5-8 minutes to check in and the mobile check in has also worked. I have used the M Club with my status and Arlyees is my favorite in the morning; TIP her, (no, it's not a requirement and she certainly doesn't ask for it, but she is the sweetest and works hard to be sure everyone is happy and kindness goes a long way in my book and it comes back three fold!). The restaurant here, Jackdaw is also amazing with great staff and amazing beef that comes from a ranch nearby. I am a sommelier and I do NOT like that there is something awry with seemingly the hiding of the wine list.IT was not that way when I was here a few months ago.IF I am ordering a red, a white; a bubbly. I, along with anyone who is ordering wine in a place of this caliber should get to see the list without having to fight for it and this time I felt I was fighting for the wine list and I have the personality to say that. I did say that to the male bartender and he laughed and explained the the wine was 'changing'. I responded with the fact that I am a sommelier and everyone is entitled to see that list, the prices and what they are ordering. Facts. With that. There is a great breakfast buffet in the mornings, although I had breakfast in the M Club as part of my benefit with my status. A small little sundries shop with a little microwave to heat up leftovers or whatever you may order from Uber Eats, (that would be me, as I was here for about a week!). A golf club that had some odd hours for dining , (they close at 7pm and I was strictly told to place my order by 640p as the chef was leaving! OKIE DOKIE.. but we were free to stay at the bar and eat it after and could have our wine 'in peace', whatever that meant!) but the bar was great and for the most part the staff was too. You can walk to the Tanger Outlets and Buccees, (IF you are into that!), for food and just about any sort of anything else you want. IF you know Buccees than you know the cult following ! The servicing of the rooms was daily and great. I tipped my maids early in my stay to get extra care: Hangars; coffee; etc. and I also think they work extra hard for a thankless job. I thought the gym was great and I got my dry cleaning back in a timely fashion.. In by 730a and back by 730p. You are about 15 minutes from the private airport or about 45 minutes from DFW. Great staff; Fab restaurant, minus the secret held wine list; and awesome service! I know I will absolutely be back, as my business here brings me to this area often and I like this hotel better than The Gaylord and any others...
Read moreThis is a difficult review because the staff here is grade A. I've never had better service from staff anywhere else - period. They deserve more than 5 stars. However, although the property is in a great location, the grounds are gorgeous and the hotel appears aesthetically pleasant - it is in very poor condition.
This is Texas - it is summer and extremely hot out. The AC system at this hotel is HORRIBLE. Walked in for late check in to a VERY hot lobby. So much so that the staff had multiple fans going behind them blowing hot air. It smells VERY MUSTY inside. The AC in the rooms arent much better. Checked in after 10 in bed by 11ish and up by 4am because of the heat. Went downstairs - they were sympathetic but could do nothing but give me 2 big box fans for the room. That helped but I had to deal w working around those fans all weekend and they are loud.
The rooms have no modern technology so dont expect to plug in laptops, phones etc... all at once.
I had free breakfast and unfortunately day 1 there were nats ALL OVER the uncovered food at the brkfst buffet. I pointed it out. It was thrown out. They got me fresh croissants from the back. The next day I go back and now there are nats AND mosquitos all over/in the food. I asked why they wouldnt just cover the food. Was told they used to but corporate got rid of the containers and want food items that dont need to be kept warm on open display - even though they've been made aware of the bug issue.
The plumbing in the room bathroom is not in good condition either. The toilets struggle to flush and the sink had a slow drain at times. One of the sink knobs leaks onto the counter when turned on.
There are no fridges in the room even though the rooms are advertised as having fridges. I was told there are limited quantities and only provided upon request first come first serve. No microwaves in the rooms either. There are multiple printed items in the room reminding you to lock up your personal items in the safe - there are no safes in any room as confirmed to me by staff.
Pros would be - The wifi is free if you sign up for marriott rewards and it is decent. I used it to work all weekend. They also offer free bottled water. The staff is EXCELLENT and I cannot stress that enough.
Unfortunately, over all, I would not recommend staying here until they renovate (which they say is supposed to be happening soon). If and when that happens I would give it another try ONLY because of the service. Otherwise, I would never look back. The staff is great but the facility has MAJOR...
