Tangerine Salon — Local services in Frisco

I started seeing Arin in May 2023, (for context I was previously getting full highlights every 6 weeks at a different salon, and was very blonde) Arin advised me to alternate between a partial and full highlight every 6 weeks to keep the integrity of my hair, which I was fine with as long as we could still keep me as blonde as possible. At my second appointment with Aaron she said we needed to do a trim to keep my hair healthy and to continue being blonde or the bleach would cut my hair off. I was fine with a trim and was only expecting about an inch to be cut off.. Arin cut off about 5 inches of my hair and at the time I told myself it would grow back and I gave her another chance. However, at my last appointment I called the salon after getting home and realizing my hair looked like it hadn’t even been highlighted I was told to send pictures of what I would like for my hair to look like and I did. Johanna said she would talk to Aaron. I never heard back from anyone so I finally just decided to cancel my future appointments. My last appointment was on September 11th and a few days after my appointment I went to put in my clip In extensions and as I was parting my hair into sections I noticed that there was so much dark in the back of my hair where highlights were never placed.. I have had 3 full highlights with Arin and there is no reason why there should be that much of my root showing. I was baffled and felt like short cuts were taken on my hair. There is no reason why there should have been that much hair left out of my foils. The photos attached are the back of my hair that were skipped and the front of my hair now and a photo of how long my hair was before she cut it for comparison.

Update: I emailed the owner as she requested on 10/4/23, she has still not responded (it’s now 10/23/23). I’ve even called a requested to speak with her over the phone, haven’t received a...

After a lot of research I decided to take the plunge and go to Tangerine based on their reputation. I took a day off of work because I was taking my appointment seriously, was willing to pay whatever the cost to get my hair done. I asked for heavy layers to be cut back into my hair and wanted full highlights to blend in the gray and brighten my hair which had become dull. BTW I’ve had blonde hair my entire life, all shades. When I arrived I had to stand at the front desk because there was no receptionist to check me in. I did see a girl come in and stand around talking to others while eating a burger or something. When a line at the front started to form, burger girl finally came in, messed around the front desk for a minute without looking up to any of us so finally a girl that was my stylist walked over and put I’m in a chair in the back to wait some more. By this time there weren’t many other customers in the salon so they didn’t seem slammed for time. All of this would be ok, but the end result of my quite expensive appointment was that I left the salon looking exactly like I did when I went in. My hair had grown out a lot so a significant hair cut, which I discussed and showed pictures, even of me with the haircut I wanted, should have been apparent. I couldn’t tell I got a haircut and the highlights were barely showing. My husband, friends and co-workers all agreed that I looked exactly the same as before I went in. They asked me to rebook but I declined. No drastic episode happened but I’m disappointed a salon this well known ended up resulting in….nothing to brag about. I’ve been going to Tangerine Salon since relocating to the Dallas area nearly 3 years ago. Having moved from out of state, finding a new salon that I could trust was a big deal! I am mixed, and people can find my hair intimidating which can lead to me looking like Einstein’s cousin 😆 All jokes aside, I received a glowing recommendation for Jess M at the Frisco location and she has never disappointed. She is so knowledgeable and continues to put time and energy to perfecting her craft, while educating and mentoring those around her. Jess has elevated my hair care routine and it’s so much healthier than when I first started with her. She has taken me from light to dark, and back again without killing my hair or it looking dated. Jess does a fantastic job with scheduling too… I’ve never once felt rushed or like I had to compete for her attention because she’s with someone else - when you’re in her chair, your her only priority!

There is a different energy at Tangerine that truly makes getting your hair done feel like a luxury experience. The salon itself is in an awesome location and everyone is so welcoming. The girls that handle the reception area are prompt, friendly and always make sure I don’t need anything prior to my service and that all my needs were met afterwards.
