Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Gallup

Four stars for the servers and the food, but no star for the server supervisor Angela Frye. We stopped during our road trip on Friday 6/28 around 530pm. Our server was very friendly and helpful, but I over heard a conversation as I'm sure other customers did too between the supervisor and her server named Angela, a party if 8 ppl came in and were looking for a place to sit, it was mostly full but one section was closed off, so the customer asked Angela the server if he's party could sit in the enclosed area, she looked and said yes that part is not closed. So the 8 party sat down, then here comes the supervisor and right in front of other customers she was very upset with Angela, telling her that that area was also closed but there was no sign the lights were not off and the supervisor told her "then you go take care of them you let them in there" so the good server that she is Angela went to get their drink order and I praise her for that she did not say nothing back to her supervisor but even though she was very busy she went back to the customers in that enclosed area and took their drink order and she served them gracefully, that's what a server should do and the supervisor was in the wrong. Suggestion on my part, talk to server where there are no customers, if there are more than 6 to a party find them a table instead of them looking for one! And most of all thats NOT how a Supervisor acts! I doubt if we eat...

Bad customer service experience.RUDE (visiting from TX)

I was hoping for the best, despite the bad reviews. Andrea, needs to change the industry where she works. She lacks courtesy and social skills. I don't understand how she is the first person that represents your place. Anyhow, as soon as we got in you can tell that she was having a bad day, after we told her that it was 5 of us (my husband stayed behind to walk our two dogs for a bit) she proceeds to tell me that I couldn't pay for him and needed to pay when came in (Fine!). Then it was the argument about the drinks, she kept asking what were going to drink and I just said 4 regular drinks, she again in a very rude manner without elaborating anymore asked the same question. What do you want to drink? Already annoyed by her attitude I asked her what do you mean, just 4 regular cups please? Then she finally said excuse me!? the waiter will take it to you. I was done with her. Then, the beat part happened, as we were walking to find a table, another lady comes in and Andrea says" oh, they already paid for you, here is your ticket"..I went back and said-excuse me?? You just told me that I couldn't pay for my husband who was outside but it was ok for this other person. Her dumb excuse was "well, I can't do it for everybody, it wouldn't be right".😡 I don't know where you guys are...

Golden Corral is not my first choice among buffets, but this seems to be the only buffet in my hometown. However, my mom wanted to go there and she was buying, so what mom wants, mom gets! The price was right and the food was satisfactory, but the wait staff seemed to go out of their way to ignore you -- our drinks werent refreshed; dishes werent cleared in a timely manner; food, utensils and napkins would lie about the floor; and the staff seemed oblivious to the numerous unmet need around them. We had to seek out a waitstaff to request our drinks, as did several patrons around us. Food wasnt replaced in a timely enough manner, as several dishes -- especially pizza -- wasnt readily available, resulting in many disappointed children and their parents. Granted, this location was super busy and I imagine the staff had a hard time keeping up, but for the price paid by customers who spend their hard earned money here, I would think there would be more effort to make this experience a much better one. If not for the great time I had with my mom and our family as we talked and laughed and enjoyed each others company -- the ambience was like being at a large family gathering/party -- I'd offer only 1 star to this establishment.
