We stayed here because where we normally was already booked up. The reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of it's location. It is convenient and within walking distance to everything in Gatlinburg. I've shared some pictures of the room we stayed in and the corridor just outside of our room. We were on the second level, so when we arrived we were told to use the stairs located in the corner of the lot to get to our room. Around the stairs, it looked like a maintenance worker's junk closet. There were random pieces of wood, a sink, several chairs and a variety of things that guests shouldn't have to see while staying there. We later found out that there was a ramp that we could access to get to our room so we didn't have to go through that area anymore. Upstairs, just outside of our room and vending area, there was an unfinished open area that I believe was being used as storage for the luggage carriers. This is great, however there were exposed plumbing pipes hanging out from the wall - I'm guess those were from the other side of our room. Inside our room wasn't much better. There had been a doorway that was being closed up or a huge hole in the wall that was in the process of being patched. At any rate, the room we stayed in shouldn't have been rented out. All around the room the molding was missing, the paint was messy and the furniture needed to be dusted. In the bathroom, the faucet wasn't connected to the bath tub, so you had to be careful when turning the shower on. We were afraid we would break the faucet fixture from the wall. With all of this being said, we've stayed in rustic hunting lodges that were in better shape than this hotel. For the price you pay, it isn't worth it. It is outdated and in desparate need of major repairs. We will not be staying there again and I would only recommend this to someone else as a...
Read moreMy wife and i stayed for a week in September. The location is PERFECT! Less than a five minute walk to the parkway! The view was nice and the area relatively quiet. The room was dirty. Not filthy, but obviously hadn't been properly cleaned for several stays. The bedding was clean so that was a plus. The air-conditioner had mold on the inside and smelled musty. My wife took the cover off and washed it in the tub. Several scratches on the walls but nothing that was a deal breaker. The price was good and all we needed was a place to sleep at night. The staff was the biggest downfall! The lady that checked us in had NO customer service. NONE! No smile, no "Welcome to Gatlinburg!" nothing! I chalked it up to maybe she's having a bad day. I get to the room and our refrigerator isn't working. I called the front desk, same lady, and got told that maintance would be by sometime tomorrow. When I explained that I was going to lose the food I brought if I didn't have a refrigerator I got told "I don't know what to do?" Not I don't know how to help you but a legitimate "I don't know what to do?". So she says that she's going to call someone and call me right back. Still waiting on that call! I ended up fixing the fridge myself but a call back would have been nice. We stopped by the front desk the day before we left to get fresh towels and were met with the same unsmiling face that checked us in. She told us that the towels would be delivered. They were, by her actually, but the lack of ANY hospitality still bothered us. So, all in all, not a bad place to stay. Not a 5 star resort, but a decent room to stay at while you enjoy the surroundings. There were two bears that came by the hotel, but that is probably a common occurrence amd not the fault...
Read moreThe good news is; the location is great. It's just a short walk to the main strip that has everything on it, yet quiet and off the beaten path. The room was clean enough but looked a little worn out and dreary. There was a hole in the bathroom door and a large crack in the sink. Sheets and towels were clean and housekeeping did bring fresh each day. They did not re-stock coffee pods after the first day, but did after the second. The young man who checked us in was very nice.
The day before our check-out, the key stopped working so we went to the office for help. Without any security measures, the woman there asked us what room we were in and tried re-activating the card. After it still didn't work, we went back again for help. She seemed annoyed and asked what exactly was happening with it before finally determining that the battery had died and we’d need to be let in with a manual key. She came and let us in and told us that she’d add the dead battery to the maintenance list, but offered no other immediate solutions. We never told her that we were checking out the next day or gave our names so we were surprised that she didn’t try to offer us any type of solution such as moving to a different room or at least a follow up in the morning. Because we were leaving, we made do by packing the car and checking out early, but it would have been nice to go out and get breakfast and coffee and then come back and pack the car.
Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable stay in a great location, this will give you a clean place to sleep and shower. As others have said though, you get what you pay for, so don’t come here expecting a...
