First off, Ashley was a great game master. However, my wife and I played the “Kidnapped II” room and there were so many frustrations with the room:

  1. The room was supposed to be pitch black, but one could easily see light coming from the location of the timer screen.

  2. The walls were so thin that we could hear every word the group in the adjacent room were saying.

  3. More than one game master was in the observation room and we could hear the other game master speaking whenever we requested a hint (it was very frustrating and distracting).

  4. Two of the puzzles were set up incorrectly, even requiring the game master to stop our timer, enter the room, and fix the issue (that took us out of the game mentally).

  5. For one of the two malfunctioning puzzles, a colored keypad contained 3 different shades of the same color (poor design).

  6. Most of the puzzles only unlocked a combination lock that would lead you to the next lock. The creativity was really lacking in this room.

  7. Finally, the room needed some TLC— We were amazed on how easily the player could break the game or mess up a puzzle if they made the wrong decision.

Out of the 6 escape rooms my wife and I have played, this ranked as #5 on the list. We were both very...

Tiff & I enjoyed our experience immensely! Howard...aka "Howard the Duck" also could be shortened to "Howard Duck!" (he's very tall), was awesome!. Tiff says he helped us too much but from my perspective, he merely affirmed, when asked, if we could move on to another clue when we stuck. He helped guide us and honestly, it could have turned out differently if no affirmation was given. Bottom line, he kept a married couple (33yrs 🙂) from quibbling over medial nonsense & focus on the goal. In my personal opinion, he demonstrated wisdom beyond hiz years, & outstanding leadership skills , guiding 2 patrons trying a breakout as a pair. We've successfully completed several escape rooms (& failed) with larger groups but never we paired.🤷‍♂️. My most sincere thank you, kudos & gratitude to The Duck & the entire crew at Breakout Gatlinburg, for showing us a great experience. Cheers! Dano White, Mystery Mansion, think we broke out in...

update: management has contacted me and provided us a refund for our experience. For that I've updated my rating for stellar customer service.

Maybe our experience was an anomaly but we did the Clue room and from the beginning it was bad. Gatlinburg was over flooded with people this week and we had a hard time getting parking. Once we finally started, the employee informed us that the Clue room next door was having technical difficulties which might impact our room too. And it did. It probably didn't help that our host was also new and probably could not manage the technology on their own. It was disappointing to say the least. I've played about a dozen escape rooms over the past year and hands down this was the worst experience I've had so far. If your games/clues don't work properly, it ruins the entire experience. Would...

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time playing two escape rooms back to back; The Kidnapping, and Kidnapping 2: Afraid Of The Dark! We are Floridians who absolutely love escape rooms. Our game master Macey was kind, engaging, and super helpful! She let us take many, many photos and made us feel welcome. The games were difficult, which is exactly what we’re looking for, but most importantly fun and lots to do! The rooms truly made us feel like we were actually in the situations we were placed in; one in very dim lighting (with the choice to turn on the lights) and one in the complete pitch black! Private rooms always make games the most enjoyable, and the puzzles are unique and engaging! Overall, 10/10 experience, and 100/10 rating for Macey! We will be back!

Hubby and I were down here for a short get-away and we decided to do an escape room. We played Kidnapping 2: Afraid of the Dark. It was a great decision! Brandon was our game master and we loved how he only nudged us in the right direction without actually giving the answer away and only when we asked. We escaped with 5 minutes and 6 seconds left. We had one small problem near the end of the game when it got locked up, but Brandon paused the time and got the game going again. We definitely recommend Breakout Games if you are even thinking about doing an escape room. Oh, we also loved how it was a private room with just the two of us so we didn’t have to figure out the dynamics of playing with strangers.
