Elkhorn Lodge Motel — Hotel in Grangeville

For the price this place is not worth the price. You can stay at the Super 8 or Gateway Inn for not much more they are 100 times nicer. It is family owned and unfortunately they haven't got a clue how to run a business. I let the lady running the place know that the A/C fan wasn't working. I didn't ask for anything, I was just simply letting her know. She said she would refund the room if it was broke. She came and looked at it and said it was fine despite the fact that changing the fan speed did absolutely nothing and then amount of air coming out of the thing you could barely feel on your hand. Then she said she didn't have the authority to give a refund so she she either lied when she said she would refund the room if it was broke or lied when she said she didn't have the authority because those are mutually exclusive statements. Then she started screaming at me at the top of her voice saying she wasn't going to argue with me when I kindly disagreed with her that the air conditioner was not working like it should. She came back a few minutes later with her son on the phone who said his name was Wade. He was also completely unprofessional making condescending remarks about the situation. He said no-one else has ever said anything about the air conditioner as if that's proof that it's not broke.. and then later he said he had 3 new air conditioners on the way and was just waiting for shipping and admitted that this isn't the first time his Mom (the lady running the place) has lost her temper with a customer. We chose this "Lodge" because of the reviews, however, either those who wrote reviews had very low standards or they were paid. We asked for a "non smoking" room and held them to the price we were quoted at the time that we made our reservations, which was May. When we arrived, they tried to increase our price by $20 a night. No way. So they reluctantly honored their price and gave us an unfinished room that reeked of stale cigarette smoke. There were two televisions, one above the other on the wall, however, only one worked. There were not enough towels. There was no bath mat, no soap at the sink, no table lamp for night time reading and one of the bulbs above the sink was burnt out. There were stains on the carpet. Did I say the room was unfinished? The bead-board that was being put on one wall was not complete. The base board trim was unfinished. The toilet only worked half of the time. There were cigarette butts strewn around outside. There were dogs roaming the property, although they were non threatening and quite docile. The only reason I gave it two stars was that the bed was comfortable and did not make noise.
