This is a very sad example of a bed and breakfast! The first clue as to the level of disappointment we were to experience was the disgusting smell of garbage as we exited our vehicle - the trash was uncovered and strewn about the side of the house. The landscaping is overgrown and unkempt. The front porch could be quaint if someone bothered to sweep it and trim the overgrown bushes. We had 5 adult family members staying for 2 nights. We booked the Grand Suite which is actually the third floor of the house. The sleeping arrangements were fine with 3 bedrooms. The floor’s common area is a small living room with 2 couches - one that the cushions were actually disintegrating…. There is a small refrigerator that was a plus but the freezer had considerable ice buildup. There is only one bathroom with a small stall shower. The bathroom window could not be closed, which I suppose is okay since there’s no fan, but unfortunate when it’s very hot out. There are zero towel racks - what are we supposed to do with 5+ towels?? There were plenty of clean towels/washcloths but many of them were stained. The breakfast and food options are NOT at all what you’d expect from a B&B. Pulverized, black specked scrambled eggs - it was not simply pepper but looked like burnt pan debris, probably from the greasy sausage patties. Stale Eggo waffles, day old Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, single serve boxes of Corn Pops and Cocoa Puffs, packaged bagels and blueberry pancakes that were dry and tasteless. There were apples, oranges and bananas available. Orange and apple juices, Keurig coffee and teas. Housekeeping was not provided but we were given additional towels and toilet paper. The sheets were clean but the stairs and floors could have used a vacuuming. The final disappointment was when my daughter realized she left her pillow. We called right away and said we’d be back a little later. The manager said she had it and would leave it on the sofa in the downstairs parlor. It was on the sofa but they had taken the pink printed pillowcase!! There was no one in the house at the time to ask for it. Another phone call was made but it went to voicemail. We received a call the next day saying it was probably sent out to the laundry and if they found it, they’d mail it. Why would you take a pink pillowcase that was clearly not yours??!! This could have been a nice stay in what was once a grand home but the level of neglect and lack of personal attention to the property and guests made it a $534.65 disappointment and...

Read moreThis is the worst Bed and Breakfast we've ever been to, and we've been to quite a few. As soon as we walked up and saw the filthy porch and furniture, we knew this was not going to be a good experience. This place should be shut down. Our room had large cracks in the walls, there was no fire alarm,(Refer to pictures), the light above the sink kept flickering, and every time my husband tried to lower the volume on the TV, it got louder and louder. The bathroom door did not close, it was like the door was too big for the door frame. The bathroom was claustrophobic and if you stood up from the toilet too quickly, you could bang your head. Getting back into the room wasn't easy because the lock was old, and you had to jiggle the key in a certain way. There was garbage strewn on the side of the house, and the lawn and bushes were unkept. I saw on another website someone else complained about the same issues, and the bed and breakfast person answered back something to the effect that they were trying to stay true to the historic integrity of the building. That's a bunch of baloney because we've been to other bed and breakfasts that are historic landmarks and they were kept up and not filthy and dilapidated. The host seemed like a nice woman, but this...
