I've read through these reviews and see so many people raving about the service, but I had a completely different experience on Sunday. It started when I came in the door and waited to see the host for seating. There was someone (a host?) at that station, working on a screen, and she was not looking up at all. Meanwhile, several people were crowding in behind me. Then she walked away. A number of service/staff members saw a crush of people, but no one was coming over to us. In fact, it seemed as though they were directly avoiding eye contact. Another server came over to the station and again began working on the screen without looking at anyone, as the people behind us continued to pile in. Eventually, someone just interrupted the server and asked if she could take our names. This incident was so bizarre and seemed to violate the principles of Hospitality 101, but we got on the list. Of course, it would have been nice if someone had told us we could just seat ourselves at the counter, which we eventually did before we were given menus and then promptly ignored for the next ten minutes, with each server again taking pains to avoid eye contact.
I have to say, I eat out quite a bit all over the country. I also read lots of reviews, and I've learned to take it with a grain of salt when people complain because there's often a lot of entitlement and whining involved, but this is not one of those cases. There was no attitude on our part. We just wanted to provide cash in exchange for a meal, but the servers treated us like we were persona non grata. And it seemed as though everyone in the restaurant was getting the same terrible treatment. I would perhaps expect this kind of surly service in a busy big city restaurant, but in a small town mom-and-pop diner?!? Maybe the entire staff had just been reamed out by a manager because there had to be some reason for their poor service. Meanwhile, the reviews here rave about the friendly service, so I just have to wonder if either we experienced an anomaly or if the standards of service in this town are very low.
The food was just fine, average diner fare that was adequately priced. The train that runs overhead is cute. But the poor service ensured I will not return on future trips...
Read moreI order take out from here quite often. N I love the food and service you receive for the great prices. I would normally put a four or five star rating however today I called n put a to go order in for their twin boneless pork chops with mashed potatoes and gravy and the potato leek soup. The girl who took my order told me it would be 25 minutes. So a half hour later I walk in and tell them I'm there for my to go order. So first mistake is my name is Lauren and the girl put it in for a Luanne. Now that I can overlook no big deal, people mistake my name all the time. Well next thing was the lady couldn't find my order, so took about ten minutes before it was cleared up. Now the lady says you got the southwest chicken soup? I say "no potato leek" so she fixes that. Then she says out loud " who put a bottle of water on here?" I didn't order a bottle of water so she takes that off. I pay n return home starving. I open the box and its not the twin boneless pork chops but the breaded pork chops!!! Now don't get me wrong I know there both pork chops and I'll enjoy it regardless, but had I wanted breaded pork chops I would of ordered them. I also know whoever the girl was that took my order had gotten off before I came in to pick it up. So the girls now on I don't blame cause they didn't know. I'm not one to complain but I too am a server and have been for over 15 years. I know this job is not for everyone, and at times can be stressful. So usually I'd let something like this slide. But I know its not hard whatsoever to put a order in correctly on the computer (micros). Its very obvious that this girl doesn't care, doesn't know the menu at all, or dislikes her job. I don't know what the reason is but I'd hate to see someone else experience this problem and receive the wrong order. Maybe this girl needs more training, or a different choice in career. Again I love this place. But I don't think I will ever again order my food over the phone, for fear of having this...
Read moreI ordered 80+ dollars worth of food on 9/7/25. We we're holding a fundraiser and got very hungry. This being honesdale not alot of places opened on Sundays...It took them 20 minutes and honestly right there i should of known..I ordered 3 ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches on rolls, a order of mozzarella sticks,a cheese steak,a chicken salad sandwich on a roll with fries and a sampler platter. Needless to say we we're all very disappointed and the food went into the trash. We couldn't up and leave our fundraiser to return it all. Let's start with the 3 ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches. The yolks were cooked exactly like how I asked but im pretty sure the white part of the egg isn't supposed to still be runny. It was runnier then the yolk itself 🤮. The ham wasn't even cooked or fried it was cold as can be and they didnt add any cheese. The side of mozzarella sticks we're ok. The cheese steak had hard pieces of something in it. The chicken salad sandwich was mediocre and the fries were soggy. Lastly the sampler platter. The chicken strips looked like they sat under a heat lamp all morning or something. They weren't freshly fried. The bottoms weren't crispy but soggy and white colored. The zucchini strips weren't even zucchini but were onion. The mozzarella sticks were pretty ok tho. Didn't even bother trying the onion rings or rice balls. For the price i paid it definitely was not worth it. Will not be ordering...
