I attended one of the Grand Openings when Steppin Eddy played. The place was packed! There was no room to sit we had to stand for a while until we got a seat at the bar. The servers were hustling. There were just too many people there for the servers to keep up with, but they tried and did a good job for how packed it was. We were understanding and patient and knew they were stretched thin and okay with the waiting.
When I ordered my food, the wings and dill dip/chips they got it out in 8 minutes. I couldn't believe it! We had the Hop Barons Apple something wings, which were fried and in a dry rub. They were pretty good! The dill chips were okay but I probably wouldn't get again.
They had the music LOUD, it was a bit too much for the venue. I am not afraid of loud music, but they had it up a bit high. Conversation was extremely difficult with someone next to you a fair distance from the stage. I could feel my hearing was altered after I left, a little more deaf than when I came.
The beer was quite good and reasonable for the venue and being brewed in house. The parking was rough, we had to park a little ways away as the lots were full and nearby businesses had signs up threatening to tow.
I was concerned that with it being a Settlers business it would be priced excessively, but the prices seem appropriate for the quality and location. On the whole I feel like it is a great business, but I do think they need to work out the kinks as far as service goes. I think some logistical changes, more servers, or limiting capacity will help here. We were fine but I heard some grumbling from customers with less...
Read moreAlright so I never really leave reviews but for this one I had to. First off my wife and I walked in and thought it was exactly what I would think of when I hear “Runaway Train Brewery. What a great hidden gem!! We saw the restaurant was empty so we decided to sit at the bar when we were greeted by the bartender. He gave us the run through of the different beers they offered and seemed very knowledgeable about the different options of beer they brewed in house. He was also nice enough to pour us some samples of the beers that were similar to what we liked and he was spot on with both of them (I like a crisp beer and my wife likes a dark beer) the Coach Car and Midnight Train hit the spot. So (for a Yankees and Ohio State fan) he was an amazing knowledgeable and friendly bartender. Kept us al engaged in a conversation, even when others joined.
Anyway, I ordered what he recommended when I asked for the best seller which was the smash burger. Burger was similar to what is would be like if Five Guys made a Big Mac and my wife got the Chicken BLT was flavorful!! They both were as good as they sounded.
We were also told about the game room upstairs which my wife and I went to take a look at and played a quick game of shuffleboard. As far as coming back we definitely will be back when it’s nicer out maybe in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor patio that we were also told about!! Thanks for the great experience!! Can’t wait to come back...
Read moreUpdate!! Went in again, I should have stayed home. Nachos!! Don't bother, chicken was dry, nachos burnt, guacamole was bla, sour cream was good, put some product on those nachos, for the money, at least make it worth it. Maybe the cook should actually try to eat this crap. The pretzel with the cheese sauce was good, the Mac and cheese is trash, my 13yo flat out said it was terrible, they are trying to hard to impress with Mac and cheese. Hire a chef already, or just throw in the towel. Nothing on your menu is difficult to make absolutely amazing , especially for the prices you are charging, and put some alcohol in the mixed drinks. We will not be back unless we hear there are some actual changes, good luck making it through the winter, none of the locals will be repeat customers. I hate leaving a review like this especially since I live in this area, but I had a better meal at an Iron Skillet at a truck stop while traveling recently. I really did walk in with an open mind. First time in did a takeout order waited 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was there(Standing at the bar). Don't bother with the wings, there may be a pound of them, but they are tiny, the Cuban was less than desirable and the fries albeit were takeout were barely cooked. I'll try again and eat in this time, but step...
