Concerning Kerri Salvatore’s review: I did not see any gates at this hotel to enter or exit. Only needed room key to enter building from garage & at room. The front entrance is a short walk from garage if no room key. Or outside parking is available near the front entrance.
We loved the room with the mini kitchen, sleeper sofa for our third person. The king size bed was so comfortable we had a hard time getting up. The rain-like shower head was nice. We liked how the sink was separate from the shower room. So the mirror didn’t get steamed up & the sink could be used while someone was using the shower. Also liked how the room had 2 large TVs. Housekeeping kept the room nice & clean. Also washed the dirty dishes in kitchen sink & washed coffee maker.
The hot breakfast had multiple selections of items to choose from which were all good. It didn’t have a selection of sugary items like danishes which we were glad wasn’t there. We liked all the fresh fruit especially the sliced strawberries. The dining area has a nice atmosphere. It has different types of sitting so it didn’t feel like a restaurant or cafeteria.
This hotel has a free covered parking garage which was nice during the rain. The courtyard/pool area was cozy with a barbecue grill. Instead of vending machines & ice machines this hotel has a 24hr shop that has a large selection of items like beverages, ice cream & hygiene. There is a freezer in the shop with free bag ice which is the right size for the ice bin in the room’s freezer. The hotel also had fruit infused water in the lobby.
The staff was all helpful and friendly. I used the computer to do some research. The front desk lady was helpful in getting me on the computer, refilling the paper for printer, & letting me borrow a stapler.
The Galleria mall was a very short walk from hotel. The mall is huge and enjoyed watching the people use the ice rink in the mall. There are several nice restaurants nearby.
This was one of the nicest hotel stays we had for the price we paid. We liked the...
Read moreThe short: Please, for your sake, don't stay at the cash grabbing hotel.
The long: We didn't have much time to research ahead of time, but we booked this place despite other negative reviews. First, the desk attendant tried to convince me that we'd booked 2 rooms. After assuring him that my wife and I (the only guests) wouldn't have booked 2 rooms, we checked in and stepped onto the rickety elevator. We were immediately overwhelmed by a terrible perfume smell in the room, to the point where we opened both windows. It must have been bothering other guests as well, several other windows were also open. As other reviewers mentioned, the hotel looks nothing like the photos online. They at least had the good sense to hire a decent photographer for the website. Unfortunately, after only roughly 15 minutes, we got a phone call about a family emergency that required us to leave immediately. We went back down to the front desk to return our keys. I said to the (different) attendant "I'm sorry, we have a family emergency and have to leave so l was just returning the keys". Without skipping a beat, he said "Well you’ll be charged just the same, you've physically entered the room." Of all the different ways that exchange could have transpired and despite just being told we had an urgent family emergency, he wanted to make sure we knew they were keeping our money because we'd physically entered the dirty perfume shop they called a hotel room. We reached out to Sonesta Guest Relations, only to run into a dead end because the actual location still refused to refund. I'm sure this will get the rubber-stamp "We're sorry we didn't meet your expectations" reply like the other negative reviews, if anything at all. I just hope we can save someone else the experience of donating money to this money grubbing...
Read morePrice is slightly high at about 137 plus tax this Saturday night for a one bedroom which is only about 8 dollars more than what you pay for the studio. And I am cheap but the oyo across the street has horrible reviews and supposedly charges for parking which is deceptive because sonesta does not charge parking. Remember to put your parking pass on the dash of your car or you can get towed. The AC goes down to 65 which is the part I love. I hate when hotels limit the coldness of the room. It got nice and chilly. They have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers with plenty of towels. Room was very clean and had lots of nice features I didn’t even use, like an iron, fridge, and glassware. The tap water tasted good. Service was excellent with very helpful staff and the mall is only 3 minutes walk away! My favorite part! I walked to joeys restaurant which I highly recommend. See my review for that place. The food was delicious there! My van doesn’t fit in the parking at the mall so staying at this hotel put me in walking distance Of everything I need, including the amazing Cuban cafe across the street. So what’s bad about this place? Nothing I can think of. They even let me park my van there an extra 3 hours while I went shopping longer before leaving Houston. They also stock some hygiene products like tampons and carry snack foods and water and sodas and stuff if you get hungry at night and need a snack. The experience was top tier. The floor plan feels maze-like but it’s a minor...
