Me, my brother, his fiance and her parents all decided to make this our last family outing before I made my venture back to Indiana and her parents to Hoboken. I had seen videos and adds online more then likely from looking up museums I wanted to visit from the last time I was here but this one stood out.
So, when they mentioned The Illusion Museum WE WERE ALL IN! Arrived around 12:40 on Tuesday and it wasn’t too packed, off of the back edge of The Galleria Mall I presume? That’s what Snapchat tagged! Haha. It was fast and easy to pay, sign the waiver online with your phone number and email, options for Apple Pay or debit/cc for payment and started exploring.
Every piece is very interactive and you are absolutely encouraged to take advantage of the photo oppurtunities throughout. IT IS WHAT YOU CAME FOR! Take the pictures!
At the beginning of the exhibit we were greeted and helped by an absolute GEM of a human and sadly I can’t remember her name but she has shoulder length curly brown hair, glasses, about 5’5” and the personality of a literal floating bubble! She is effervescent! FANTASTIC! Allowing us to take our time at each exhibit and really soak in all that we could from each interactive piece while being our own personal photographer throughout our whole time there was so refreshing and seemingly effortless in the fact that she really seems to enjoy her job and helping people get the full experience from the museum.
She’s a prize, you should reward her with a quality appreciation because she made our/my experience more than it would have ever been had she not have been there and the sole reason why I’m writing the review.
We will definitely be back, only with a different set of parents next time. 😂
Pricing was well worth the experience, more than enough things to have a fantastic photo opp and as a photographer that’s A HUGEEE PLUS! I would bring seniors here IN A...
Read moreOur visit to the Museum of Illusions was an absolutely fascinating adventure! This incredible place is where reality and perception blur, offering a unique blend of education and entertainment. From the moment we stepped inside, we were immersed in a world of mind-bending exhibits and interactive installations that challenged our senses and perceptions. One of the standout experiences was the Ames Room, where we marveled at the illusion of growing and shrinking as we moved from one corner to the other. It was astonishing to witness how our brains could be tricked by simple visual cues. Another favorite was the Vortex Tunnel, which gave us the thrilling sensation of spinning while we walked on a stable surface. It was both disorienting and exhilarating! The museum also showcased a variety of optical illusions, holograms, and puzzles that kept us engaged and entertained throughout our visit. Each exhibit came with detailed explanations, helping us grasp the science behind the illusions. This perfect blend of fun and learning made it an ideal outing for both kids and adults. A special shoutout goes to Cam, Nacho, Jenne, and Cassidy, who made our experience truly exceptional. Their top-notch service, enthusiasm, and willingness to help made our visit so worthwhile. They guided us through the exhibits, took amazing photos, and ensured we had an unforgettable time. Thank you, Houston Team! We highly recommend the Museum of Illusions to anyone seeking a unique and mind-boggling adventure. It's a memorable experience that leaves you in awe of the wonders of perception! Follow...
Read moreThis was a fun family activity. It’s a great place for capturing fun and unique photos. Some of the illusions really only work well in person, but many work well with photos, and the museum provides guidance on taking those photos. Given the price, I had hoped for at least one more room, but all in all we were satisfied with what we got — about an hour of fun (which I feel was about as long as the experience will reasonably captivate the attention of a family or small group.) I don’t know if or how often they change the experience. If it doesn’t change much, I can see they might struggle with repeat business, as I am not really drawn to the idea of coming back; most of the experiences felt like a one-and-done thing. Don’t get me wrong, my family and I were happy we went and have had a blast sharing our experience and photos with other friends and family, but going back to re-experience those same illusions doesn’t really seem worthwhile.
You can buy tickets in advance, and you might as well do so; when you arrive, you are required to buy your tickets online the same exact way. You might as well have just gotten it done before arriving. Also, try to arrive early. I don’t know how well they meter entry, but it seemed to be getting a little more busy as we were leaving (we arrived about 30 mins after opening time and left an hour later). The illusions were definitely more enjoyable when we were able to experience them without being rushed by...
