once you arrive at this motel, you pay with your credit card and then the manager still wants a copy of photo ID. in this day of identity fraud, the Motel should not be taking a copy of your photo ID once your credit card is verified against your photo ID showing that you are the same person paying for the place.|| you are handed the old-style key that anyone can make copies of them, and come back to your room with their own key at any time and the TV remote. this is very unsafe I mentioned this to the manager and he said there is no issue. the motel advertises a pool, the way to pool is being kept, it should be filled in. the pool is not heated, even 85° weather the water was ice cold, the tree near the pool sheds its leaves every day which makes the pool filthy with leaves, the lights for the pool are burnt out, leaving the pool with no lighting. there is only a select few chairs around the pool with no tables and no tables with umbrellas either. so you have to sit in the blazing sun as there is no shade available. ||You may as well not even bother to lock the door as the security at this place is the worst possible. a old-style doorknob key from 1960s or 70s, with no dead bolt lock, no keychain on the door, and no peephole either.|| the TV is the old-style fat TV, with limited TV channels, and a fuzzy picture on a lots of them. the WiFi is hit and miss.|| if you turn on the bathroom light the bathroom fan also comes on at the same time which is loud and noisy.|| the curtains in the room were stained and had black marks on them.|| the Fridge had not been cleaned as it was completely sticky everywhere, and was turned up so cold that my soda pop froze overnight.|| bathroom shower had an old towel laying in the corner behind the shower curtain.|| the air conditioner does provide very cold air, however there is no way to set the temperature. so you have to keep getting up to turn the air conditioner off and on as he turned on ill just you getting colder and then you have to shut off manually, or it will just keep running making noise.|| I did ask for a microwave and received it promptly so I was able to make tea in the room every morning.|| there is no clock in the room so you have to use your cell phone to find what time it is all the time or to wake you up in the morning.|| the parking lot area around the hotel is lit up fairly good ,on both sides of the motel the lights are burnt out and need to be replaced to light up the outside of the motel as well ,for safety of the persons who want to walk around the building.|| across the street is a truck stop and a car wash, the car wash fan starts up and makes a loud noise and trucks come and go all day and night.|| a railway line is also about a half a block away and when the trains roll through you can hear them and feel them as well.|| if you're looking for a quiet restful sleep this is not the place.|| one night I received a phone call at 2:22 AM and then again at 2:24 AM. the morning I went to the front desk informed management about this to find out it was someone from inside the motel calling another room or another call calling my room and he had no idea. I said during nighttime hours calls should not be just click through to the room without some kind of verification as I was not impressed being woken up in the middle of the night. to manage his response was it was probably a previous guest gave out the room number and they were trying to contact him. that did not help us much to get woken up in the middle of the night. for paying over $100 a night person expects more from a motel, I feel I was left shortchanged with the amenities, than what was available. as stated before the pool was un usable due to his dirtiness, ice cold, no tables and chairs, no umbrella to get out of the blazing sun, there were no towels available to use.|| was told quite often that the hot tub was under repair it was getting these solar panels, with a hot tub looked like it was covered over years ago with plywood as the plywood was already starting to rot.|| I said to the manager you have to spend some money to make some money as looks like very little money is ever spent here by management...
Read moreYou can not judge this book (The Indio Holiday Motel) by its cover (its exterior appearance). When my wife and I drove up to the Indio Holiday Motel we sort of sighed and thought, "Oh no, what have we here?" We were locked into a no-cancellation-reservation.||||The manager was very no-nonsense, professional. I asked to see the room we were being assigned, looked at it, and was honestly very impressed with it. For one thing, we were able to park our vehicle directly in front-of-our-room. We had a microwave oven, a mini-refrigerator and a flat screen televison. Yes we had to pay 25-cents for a small bucket of ice and so what? The room rate was low. The front lobby had a nice selection of travel brochures and data.||||There is also a very nice appearing swimming pool. We do not swim so can't comment further but it is attractive.||||Is this the Taj Mahal? No it is not. It is a older property with its fair share of bumps and bruises. Our King Bed was very comforable. The WiFi was excellent. The room and the restroom were certainly clean if not brand new. The restroom had a lot of area to set things down on. Some motel room bathrooms have literally no space to even set a toothbrush down upon. We had a full supply of towels and wash cloths with a bath mat.||||Yes indeed we would certainly return. Yes indeed we recommend this motel.||||Two things were bothersome to us.||||1. NO outgoing phone calls were possible Yes we could / and we did, successfully get incoming phone calls. But we could NOT even make 1-800 toll free calls. Yes we have (limited usage) cell phones and chose to use them only for texting.||||2. The electrical outlet located at / near the table at which I used my computer was controlled by the overhead light switch at the entry door. So I had to have the overhead light on (lit) in order to have electrical power to my laptop. Late at night and early in the morning, so as not to bother my wife sleeping, I chose not to have the overhead light on and did not use my laptop. Yes, sure, I could have used its battery. Yes, sure, I could have gone out and bought an extension cord. I choose to do neither.||||I still rate this as a VERY...
Read moreNot a bad place for a low cost motel. Has a very 60's feel. Hot pink shower tile, trimmed in chocolate brown. Comfortable, clean pool. Realtively quiet, despite close proximity to both the highway and railroad tracks with very active switch engines.
For the most part, rooms are clean and we'll maintained. I believe they should take a page out of Motel 6's recent refurbish book and get rid of all the carpet. Carpet here was past it's prime, and probably beyond keeping clean.
This was my first experience ever with a vending machine for ice. Seems like a poor idea for a motel in the desert. A quarter for a small bucket of ice is not a good deal, and is an expensive nuisance when you need to fill an ice chest.
Room did come equipped with very old, small refrigerator, as well as a pretty good microwave. No coffee pot, no hair dryer. They did provide some hand and body soap bars, as well as small packets of lotion and conditioning shampoo.
Big winner here is the air conditioner. It's a wall unit, but it works very well, even on low cool. Good feature, when the temp outside sometimes doesn't fall below 100°F around the clock. The excellent AC, combined with upgraded Windows make for good room climate control.
Lighting is very dated and substandard. Furniture, old, worn and needed to be cleaned.
WIFI Is included, and worked acceptably, but typical old motel, limited access to electrical receptacles for electronics and charging. Room supplied with small, flat screen t.v. Remote is provided at check in, and seemed to be working, but I was never able to make tv work.
Parking is Adequate, but not especially convenient to some of the rooms. Grounds and parking lot are kept clean.
Management seemed distant, but generally friendly, and offered to provide additional towels, etc, if necessary. I asked them not to bother me While I was working, and to send housecleaning only if I requested it. They complied, and I very much appreciated that.
Overall, not a bad deal for $55. If this is full, or not your cup of tea, Motel 6 is right next door for a dollar more, but they are right on the busy frontage, and directly across from the busy...
